Hello fellow readers let’s hear a big welcome for Kathleen Cherry. She has graciously answered some questions we here at Coffeetime Romance & More have asked her.
Can you tell us about your latest release No Conventional Miss?
The protagonist, Amaryllis Gibson, is a fascinating and unusual character. She is an inventor. She has a keen interest in force, momentum and any number of ‘unladylike’ activities. However, she has always been plagued with moments of second sight and rejects this aspect of herself.
Paul is also conflicted. He believes love to be destructive based on his mother’s suicide and has little interest in marriage and even less in love.
But a scandal forces the match and Rilla faces her greatest fear as she is increasingly haunted by Paul’s mother’s ghost.
Can Paul and Rilla work through these challenges and find self-acceptance and love. Or will these challenges destroy them?
Now that sounds like an exciting read. Do you write any other genres besides Historical?
I write children’s books under a different name.
Wow that is definately differnt from adult fiction. What inspired you to pick the pen up one day and create characters that capture the imagination?
I was getting too old for Barbies!
Lol Great answer. Work that mind! Have you ever had to start a book all over again after you are almost complete?
Do you mean a writer’s worst nightmare and the computer crashes as you write ‘The End’? Thankfully, NO! But I have backups everywhere. I leave a flash drive with my in-laws when I go on holiday. You know, just in case the house burns down.
They certainly are worst case scenarios. If you could make your story three dimensional, which sense would you bring into play? Sight, Sound, Touch, Smell, or Taste?
Now that is a question I’ve not had before…Sound, I think. I would love to hear the voices and accents of that time period.
I agree I would also choose Sight for an inserting combo. What do you hope readers take with them, after reading one of your stories? What do you hope they feel, or learn?
I want my reader to feel happy and to escape, if only for a few hours, from stress and worry. I love to feature strong female characters who refuse to comply with society’s conventions. But, most important, I want the reader to join my characters in the journey towards both love of another and love and self-acceptance of self.
True words most readers love to escape by reading. Onto some personal questions. If you could describe yourself in three words, what would they be?
Young at Heart
Great answer! What makes you happy and why?
Running- probably the endorphins or else I’m a masochist.
Being a mom.
Both reasons to smile. Is there a place you have never been to that you always longed to go?
I want to sail Vancouver, B.C. to Maui. It was a childhood dream. The only problem is – I have to learn to sail.
OOhh sounds so relaxing..you can always take someone who knows how to sail, if you would like company.Do you have any hobbies?
Writing is my hobby. I kept on trying to make myself ‘crafty’ but this proved expensive and frustrating. I also tried to convince myself that I could do camping with an equal lack of success. I’ve had to come to terms with my need for creature comfort.
I am sure your fans love for you to keep up with your hobby. How about any Favorite foods?
Chocolate, coffee. Does red wine count?
Oh Yes! All 3 a major food groups, LOL. OK winding down now tell us what is on tap for the rest of 2016?
I have a two book contract with Harlequin so a second book will be released at some point yet to be determined… This is set slightly earlier with the backdrop of the French Revolution. It also features a rabbit and dog both of whom believe they are the central characters. My editor doesn’t quite share their view.
Final question for our readers; Do you have any final words or advice?
Never Give Up!
So true! Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts and answering our questions. I wish you luck and much success in future works.
