Jaret Walker has been living alone for the longest time. He has been tricked, lied to, and for eighteen days tried to dodge bullets. When he comes up with a way to get Nicolas Bennett out of the Mexican prison, he quickly learns it is a trap.
Isabel Bennett lost her parents and has only her brother Nicolas, and her uncle. She is the only one who believes that Nick is alive, while her uncle thinks otherwise. The two were bequeathed the ranch, but Nick chose to care for the horses, leaving her the ranch.
Jaret faces going to the Two Roses Ranch, to meet Isabel, when the rescue to free Nick goes awry. He played right into their hands. Now Jaret feels he owes a debt that must be paid. He has a duty to protect Isabel, keeping his promise to Nick. Isabel is fit to be tied. Her uncle expects her to wed the wealthy rancher, Silas Williams, a miserable old goat. She refuses to lose any of her ranch by marrying and turning it over to a husband. For now she is concerned over Nick’s whereabouts. After meeting Jaret, and learning he is Nick’s friend, things could end up disastrously if Jaret cannot stop the ones seeking her harm. Will Isabel be as forgiving when she learns Jaret’s real involvement with Nick?
I love the descriptions of the characters in this magnificent read. Everything is so visual; this reader could actually imagine everything, even down to the description of Isabel’s smile. All Isabel and Jaret have to do is just gaze at each other and the flame ignites. Tracy Garrett tells an extraordinary story where I was mesmerized in every scene and sensation. Her robust characters give warmth all the way to the toes. She gives them depth and life, even making Silas evil enough to make the reader cringe. The suspense-filled moments are tight and almost nail-biting. Captivating and unforgettable, Touched by Love left a lasting impression on this reader. Family, loyalty, duty, and a woman who refuses to give up her rights to own what rightfully belongs to her…I love it.
