Set in the Blue Ridge Mountains during the summer of 1969, Moon Water finds Nettie, 16, with her boyfriend wanting to breakup just as they are figuring out the sex thing. Nettie’s lifelong nemesis is jabbing her with perfectly polished nails, while her hellfire and brimstone preacher refuses to baptize her. Amid this turmoil, a Monacan Indian medicine woman gives her a cryptic message about a coming darkness, a blood moon whose veiled danger threatens Nettie and those she loves. To prepare for the darkness, Nettie and her best friend, Win, make a treacherous journey into the mountains to build a mysterious dreamcatcher of ancient elements.
ABOUT AUTHOR Pam Webber
Hi Coffee Thoughts followers. I’m excited to visit with you today!
I grew up in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, in the small town of Amherst.
Today I practice internal medicine and teach nurse practitioners.
By night, I write historical novels. Although I had written research articles for work, something happened in 2015 that changed my life and my writing focus. I published my debut, bestselling Southern novel, The Wiregrass. Although it’s fiction, this book features a beloved cousin, John David, who is our family’s version of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn. Sadly, John died far too young, but the impression he left on our little gang of summer renegades still resonates with me. I wanted my children, grandchildren, and their children to know this extraordinary human being.
My newest novel, Moon Water, continues themes from The Wiregrass, but brings in additional people and events that were pivotal to my life’s twists and turns. Suffice it to say, both books have nuggets of truth wrapped in a wide layer of fiction, written from my heart to the hearts of my readers.
