HELLO COFFEE TIME READERS we have a special author today here with me. I have TJ Michaels doing a live Yahoo chat interview this evening with me and we will be discussing all of her latest works. So keep tuned in here for the current scoops.
Lainey: Hi, TJ! Thanks so much for taking the time for an interview.
TJ: No worries. I’m glad to be here
Lainey: I hear you have something special coming out very soon. Can you tell our readers about it?
TJ: Absolutely! My first print book, CARINIAN’S SEEKER, from the Vampire Council of Ethics series is out in print as of May 15th! This is HUGE for me because I’ve had five books released since June of ’06, but this is the first print release. Girl, I could have tripped out when I went to Amazon.com and saw the pre-order announcement! Woohoo!
Lainey: Can you give us a little bit of what your latest book is about?
TJ: Well, think of it this way – We’ve got a beautiful biogeneticist, a genius heroine in search of a solution to a genetic problem. What she really wants is a bad boy vamp…she just doesn’t know it yet. Meanwhile, Bix, an undercover bad boy vamp, is in search of a rogue vampire and is supposed to use Carinian as his target – she’s going to lead him to his criminal. Only problem is she’s also his mate. That’s book one. Lots of twists, turns and steamy romance.
Lainey: That sounds like a lot of fun and WORTH going online and ordering it in PRINT everyone. Don’t forget that part.
TJ: Absolutely! And for those bargain shoppers (like me!) the book is CARINIAN’S SEEKER and it’s a couple of bucks cheaper on Amazon.com than it is on Barnes and Noble or BN.com. I was in the Border’s bookstore over the weekend checking out the new Sci-Fi and Romance books, and while I was shopping the aisles, all I could think about was, “Hey, I saw that book on Amazon.com for three dollars cheaper!”
Lainey: Yes, I have been to the stores too and in fact do the same, but I belong to the BN club so there are discounts and nice ones too. W ill your book be able to be bought from Borders or Barnes and Noble too? Which means they can also get it cheaper that way too. *laughs*
TJ: The local Borders is going to carry it for sure. Barnes and Noble has it in their system but it’s up to the individual stores as to what they’ll carry. Girlfriend, that’s what I was doing this weekend – running around to the local bookstores, skinnin’ and grinnin’ with the best of ’em and giving out bookmarks and stuff. I am not above bribing! But I know the readers will love the book. It’s a keeper. And the second in the series is scheduled for release on August 21st.
Lainey: Now TJ, is the second book also coming out in print in the series? So our readers definitely get to order both right now, maybe?
TJ: Wishful thinking, darlin’ ! It’s still going through line edits (which I just sent back last night). The publisher won’t make it available until edits are completed and a cover is ready. Good try, though! *TJ laughing*
Lainey: That is ok, but do you think this next one will be able in print since a series is a good way for the publisher to get more money too? *laughing*
TJ: Definitely will be in print! I love my e -Book reader ’cause I can read in the dark and store more than a hundred books on it. But this woman’s got to get her print book needs taken care of, too…even if it means buying my own print books *grin* Now ain’t’ that a shame? An author buying her own book *laughing* I ordered it off Amazon.com the other night. By the way, there’s one more book in the series, for a total of three books…
Lainey: Yes…*pumps arm in the air* OK, you heard it here first everyone. W e have a trilogy in the making and all in print… Yeah.. so go order your first one now and get ready to pre-order the rest soon.
TJ: Rah-rah-rah!!! Author cheerleader in the house!
Lainey: Can you give us a preview of what the next book will have in it since it is still in the WIP stage? B ut you know a tidbit to tide them over so when they order and read the first they can be ready to order the next one?
TJ: The second book is finished and in my editor’s hands for the next round of edits. So, it’s essentially completed. So, we’ve got Bix and Carin in book one, right. Second book is Alaan Serati’s story. He’s Bix’s second-in-command. Here’s a blurb:
For two Seekers of justice, hunting rogues is dangerous business. But not as dangerous as their yearning for each other.
There’s a rogue on the loose, and the Vampire Council of Ethics has just the man for the job. Alaan Serati, along with his team of elite fighters, is a Seeker for the V.C.O.E. The lethal vampire law enforcement assassin is also the most eligible bachelor of Clan Serati. His job: Take out the rogue vampire who killed his mate years ago. But working with a fellow Seeker quickly becomes a pain in his backside. (more coming)
How is he supposed to accomplish the mission if he can’t keep his mind or his hands off of his fellow officer?
For more years than she wants to remember, Tameth Serati-Cole has worked almost every day, side by side, with the gruff and gorgeous Alaan. It’s been hell considering the special bond between them, something rarely developed between mates. But Alaan doesn’t really want her. He’s still pining away for the woman taken from him years ago. So when he declares his need to bond with her, this lady Seeker ain’t biting…even if she’s wanted to since the day they met.
Lainey: Fantastic TJ. I can see you have a great hit on your hands. YEAH! Now do you have anything else in the works?
TJ: But of course *said with a very bad English accent* In addition to the four books out with Ellora’s Cave already, I’m also part of the big series this year called Torrid Tarot. I have a book called EGPTIAN VOYAGE coming soon. It’s a paranormal romance with kick butt female leads, gorgeous heroes and smart-aleck spirit guides. If any of the readers have read my book, PRIMED TO POUNCE, from Ellora’s Cave, they’ll recognize the concept of spirit guides. In PRIMED, the guide was a black mountain lion. In EGPTIAN VOYAGE, the guides are African lions. Plus suspense and a bad guy you’ll love to hate.
Lainey: Wow, you are on a great roll TJ. That is fantastic. And what a year for you. How many books will this be for you now in just one year?
TJ: Let’s see here *tj counting on fingers* Since my debut novel last June, it’s seven books so far. Wow, no wonder my fingers hurt – my laptop could probably use a break
Lainey: Psst… with those books and what will be coming in from the new ones IN PRINT you can get a brand new state of the art laptop soon as a present for yourself. *giggles*
TJ: Totally! I am SO into giving presents to myself! I’d love a laptop that I could speak to and have it do the writing *LOL!*
Lainey: You know they have programs for that now you can buy, why not treat yourself? Y ou deserves something good for all the hard work you have been doing.
TJ: Aw, shucks…that’s so sweet *blushing* Oh, I almost forgot, Coffee Time gave CARINIAN’S SEEKER four cups! Squeee!
Lainey: That means it is a GREAT book! By the way, for those that do not know our cup rating system, 4 Cups means a GREAT BOOK. But I was not the lucky one to review it but it’s ok. I am glad you got a great review anyway *grins*
TJ: *giggle*
Lainey: OK now where can our readers find you? Do you have a website, blog, myspace, and email they can catch you on or at?
TJ: Check me out at www.tjmichaels.com I’m also part of an awesome author group with Lauren Dane and Shelley Munro. We’re called the Dynamic Trio. Come visit us at www.dynamicthree.com
Lainey: That is great and do you have a myspace or email they can also write to you at?
TJ: Oh goodness, I forgot about MySpace! I do visit over there quite often so feel free to leave me a comment on my page. I’m at www.myspace.com/tj_michaels . Lainey: Listen up folks, hear that, you definitely want to go and check out TJ’s sites for sure now.
TJ: Honey, anytime I hear the word shopping and free in the same sentence, I’m THERE!
Lainey: I know exactly what you mean TJ. Now is there anything else happening for you our readers should know about? Any promotions, chats, signings, or the like in the near future for you?
TJ: There’s always something going on! I wish I had my calendar plastered to the back of my eyelids so I could always see what I’m supposed to be doing I’m always chatting or blogging with the Dynamic Trio and a group of Ellora’s Cave authors, called the Night Whispers Authors. The best way to see what I’m up to is to check the Scoop page on my website, or my News page at the www.dynamicthree.com website.
Lainey: Now that is perfect TJ, our readers can check what is happening with your on your schedule themselves. (I cut the sentence fragments out).
TJ: Cool!
Lainey: Well I do not want to keep you too much longer but is there anything I have not mentioned that you want our readers to know about tonight?
TJ: I’m a San Francisco native, who moved to the South for a minute, ended up in Denver and wants to move to Japan! How’s THAT for variety? R ight now, my house is a fun place to be. Me and my teens are learning Japanese (Moshi moshi! Ogenki deska?) so it’s a blast trying to speak to each other. Also, the third book in the V.C.O.E. series takes place in Japan. Didn’t know they had vampires in Japan, did ya?
Lainey: Oh good, another thing to know and read about you and how it influences your writing.
TJ: My Lakota and African American heritage influence my writing – I tend to slip in a bit of Native American myth here and there, such as spirit guides. The rest comes from my love for paranormal fiction. I can do anything I want in a world that’s of my own making.
Lainey: Now that is very interesting for me. A ll you have said is right up MY alley. And I hope your readers and ours love what you write and will be buying the new trilogy in the bookstores soon.
TJ: If they’re like me (I love digital releases) there are several digital releases available, too. From Ellora’s Cave, there’s PRIMED TO POUNCE, JAGUAR’S RULE, GIFT WRAP OPTIONAL, and SPIRIT OF THE PRYDE. Coming Soon is EGYPTIAN VOYAGE. From Samhain Publishing is CARINIAN’S SEEKER, Vampire Council of Ethics Book 1, and coming in August is SERATI’S FLAME, V.C.O.E. Book 2, then HATSEPT HEAT, V.C.O.E. Book 3.
Lainey: That sounds great and our readers will definitely have to check out those books.
TJ: That’s all seven books, plus one coming. So, that’s it, ma’am.
Lainey: I want to thank TJ Michaels for being here tonight and taking her time out of a busy evening to entertain and enlighten us with all she has going on right now. And a big welcome from the Coffee Time Romance readers. THANK YOU so much TJ, I had a blast tonight.
TJ: You’re welcome and thanks for hanging out with me!
Lainey: I will say goodnight and I hope everyone goes and checks out all of your books, including those they can pre-order. *smiles*
TJ: Night, night …sssnnnzzz *TJ snoring* Doesn’t take long for me to fall asleep after the day job!
Lainey: *laughs* OK I got you … nighty night now, pleasant dreams.
