Hello all you ghost, goblins, vampires, witches and werewolves. We have with us in this fine month of October, author Rose Marie Wolf. Let’s give her a big Coffee Time Romance welcome.
Liadan: First off, let me thank you for joining us. We appreciate the time you’ve taken to sit down and answer a few questions for us.
Rose: Thanks for having me! I’m glad to be here.
Liadan: When did you know you wanted to be a writer?
Rose: I think I’ve always wanted to be a writer, but I really knew when I was in second grade. I wrote a short story and my teacher praised me for it, saying I could be an author if I wanted. That kind of stuck with me and from then on, I wanted to write and be published.
Liadan: Your first book, Sweet Moon Dreams, will soon be in print. Were you excited when you found out?
Rose: Heck yeah! It has always been my dream to one day be able to hold my published book in my hand…Now it’s coming true! I am beyond excited.
Liadan: Where did you get the idea for Rose and Jason? Especially Jason as he is one of the half-bloods. That was an interesting twist to the
normal werewolf stories I have read.
Rose: Believe it or not, the idea for Rose and Jason came from me and my fiancé. When I first began writing the book as a short story, I used my boyfriend as the basis for Jason. As the story progressed and became less and less like the “real” Jason. He became his own
character. And it’s the same with Rose. They may have started out based on us, but they are entirely different people now—the names just kinda stuck.
Liadan: Does Jason’s attitude come from the fact that he is a half-blood? It just seems as though he resents the fact that he isn’t a full blooded werewolf.
Rose: Partly. Jason has a lot of resentment issues and some of it stems from the fact that he’s only half-blood, considered weaker than most others of his kind, including Rose. In Sweet Moon Dreams, this is just established, but as the series goes on, you find that it doesn’t matter if you’re half-blood or not, you can be just as strong as you
need to be.
Most of his resentment comes from another part of his life entirely. I haven’t touched on it much in Sweet Moon Dreams, or Blood Moon, but Hunter’s Moon, coming to e-book in November, reveals a great deal more about Jason’s life, his past, and why he’s so resentful.
Liadan: I saw on your website you are working on book four of the Moon Series, will that be the last book or do you see Rose and Jason continuing their story?
Rose: Yes, somewhat. The fourth book will be the last series in which Jason and Rose are the main focus of the story. Of course, I do hopefully plan on writing a series involving some of the minor characters. I think readers would like to know what happens to the rest of the pack in the coming years.
Liadan: In the spirit of Halloween, which would you rather be and why.
Vampire, werewolf or witch?
Rose: I think if I was any kind of supernatural creature, I’d like to be a witch. Those supernatural creatures are always getting into trouble one way or another and I would like to be able to defend myself but with the least amount of physical effort. What can I say? I’m lazy!
I actually practice Wicca, which is a peace-loving, nature worshipping religion and I am already somewhat of a witch. No, it’s not like in movies, or books or television. I don’t fly on broomsticks or twitch my nose or have a wand or anything to make magic happen instantaneously. I just use positive energy and love in my life and surroundings to make positive changes in the world.
Doing all that other witchy stuff would be wickedly cool though.
Liadan: If you could travel back in time, where would you go and/or who would you visit?
Rose: Oh, there are so many places I would like to go, and so many people I would LOVE to meet. I would like to go back to ancient Egypt and meet with Queen Hatshepsut, the first female pharaoh. I would also like to visit with Edgar Allan Poe. Oh! And I would absolutely love to go back to the medieval and renaissance times…just to see how things really were.
Liadan: Where can our readers find you on the web?
Rose: I’m everywhere on the web. My website is at www.rosemariewolf.com. I update about every two weeks, so there’s always something new. I’m on Myspace at www.myspace.com/rose_marie_wolf. I have a Yahoo Group. I do a monthly Author’s Day there, where authors can join and post excerpts and readers can chat and participate in a monthly contest. And my blog is located at rosemariewolf.blogspot.com
Liadan: Do you have any upcoming conferences or book signings?
Rose: Currently, no, but I am looking into a few venues.
I’d like to thank you once again for sitting down with us and telling us about your book, Sweet Moon Dreams Book One of the Moon Series. Congratulations on the print release of the story and I look forward to adding it and the others to my ever growing collection.
