Today we welcome Midnyte Dupree to Coffee Time Romance to discuss her book Lost Treasure out now through Cobblestone Press. Welcome Midnyte! Could you tell us a little bit about yourself and how you began your writing career?
Thank you! I’m thrilled to be here. Well, I got started writing short stories at writing.com. I got involved with a great group of ladies that had broken into the e-publishing world. They helped me build up my confidence and gave me wonderful advice.
I must say that Lost Treasure is an amazing read. It’s a very interesting subject you cover. Did you have to do a lot of research on the subject of archeology?
I am so happy you enjoyed Lost Treasure! I did do a little bit of research and I hope I have inspired curiosity about the Inca’s and Macchu Picchu for my readers. Everything I seemed to read on this area of the world is steeped in mystery. Ripe for a good story. I couldn’t help myself. I’ve always been fascinated with South America and its history. Hauyna was actually a popular name back then, so I thought it would be perfect for my hero.
What led you to write about the Inca’s? I think that was a unique twist.
It’s funny really. I watch alot of the Science Channel and the History Channel. I remember some program showing how the stones around Macchu Picchu, if you place your hand on them, will vibrate or grow warm. I started thinking how neat it would be if it was some ancient Inca cursed under the rock and dirt: enter the heroine. LOL. Someone needs to save him, right. The story grew from there. It was fun to write and see how it progressed.
Will we be seeing more of Lena and Hauyna?
Yes, I hope so. I haven’t gotten the second story written, but all together I plan four Treasures in total.
I understand you have an anthology coming out with Resplendence. Could you tell us about that and when it will be released?
Yes, I do. Siren’s Song is going to be a wonderful release. I have teamed up with Melinda Barron and Jade Buchanan, both exceptional writers. I’m thrilled to be sharing this title with them. Siren’s Song is about three Siren sisters who have to fight through their personal struggles to accept the men in their lives. It’s a very hot read. My story Adara is the middle Siren sister. She longs to be able to tell someone of her secret, but unfortunately the guy she chose at first is a jerk. Then in her anger she runs to the ocean where she loses her bearings when a hurricane picks her up and takes her to a far away place (the Gulf Coast). She meets Jack there who rescues her from the storm. But Jack has a dark secret, one that might kill Adara. Siren’s Song will be released December 18th at Resplendence Publishing.
How do you spend the holidays?
With family as much as I can. We usually start out at my parents, then go to my husband’s side of the family. The holiday’s are usually very busy, but fun.
If you could spend the day with one of your characters who would it be and why?
It would probably be Hauyna. I just feel he knows so much more about the Inca and why they disappeared. I hope in the next story he will be able to reveal a little more about his people and their magic.
Who is your favorite author?
My absolute favorite is Christine Feehan. If it hadn’t been for her Dark Magic book I would have never even picked up a romance book. Once I read that one story I had to hunt down all her other ones. LOL
Thank you Coffee Times for this fun interview! Happy Holidays to you!
