Interview with Maggie Nash

Welcome!  I would like to take this opportunity to thank Maggie Nash for taking the time out of her busy schedule to answer some questions for Coffee Time Romance.  Today we are asking Maggie about her book Crash And Burn and to find out about some of her other work.

I’d just gotten out of bed on a Sunday morning and read it in an email.  I think I gasped so loudly that I woke my son up!  I then preceded to spend the next three hours emailing an phoning everyone I know.  I never did get that cup of tea I was on my way to make. <g>

Can you tell our readers a little about Crash and Burn?

Crash and Burn is a contemporary romantic suspense set in and around Sydney, Australia. Here’s a short blurb: A survivor of a horrific train crash, Beth Hamilton has no memory of the circumstances leading up to the accident.  A federal agent, Daniel Wyatt has sworn to keep Beth safe, but everywhere they turn the bad guys seem to find them.  

How did you come up with the idea of using a train to bring Beth and Daniel together?

I’ve always loved the old Hitchcock Movies and several of them took place on trains.  It just seemed like a good setting for tension, with the enclosed space and the potential for misadventure.

Maggie can you tell us what was the hardest put about writing Crash and Burn?

Apart from never having written the steamy level of the sex scenes before, I think the most difficult part in the early days of writing it was believing in myself enough to finish it.  I’m glad I persevered because it was definitely worth it.

What is your favorite part about writing?

I love learning getting to know the characters and losing myself in their stories.  They become really great friends and I miss them when I’m not writing.

What is a typical writing day for you?

I deal with emails in the mornings before I go to work, and then in the evening after dinner I sit down and spend a few hours tapping away.  On my days off work, I use my kitchen timer for 30 minute intervals of writing throughout the day in between household chores and being a taxi driver for my sons..  

What do you like readers to take away from reading your work?

I’d like them to remember the excitement of the suspense, the emotion of the developing relationship, and the “ahhhh” as the heroine and hero realize they are made for each other.

What was the last book you read?

“Warrior’s Pledge” by Kara Griffin

What is your favorite type of genre to read?  Who is among your favorite authors?

My taste is very eclectic.  Obviously I love romantic suspense, but I also enjoy paranormal romance, and historicals and contemporaries…and fantasy…oh, lots !

I’ve probably been influenced the most by Iris Johansen, Elisabeth Lowell , Julie Garwood and  Carla Neggers.  For enjoyment I read Christine Feehan, Angela Knight, Cynnara Tregarth, Therese MacFarland and so many I couldn’t possibly list them all.

What are some of the things you like to do when not writing?

Reading and sleeping, and sleeping and reading.

What is you favorite confection?  

Chocolate!

Maggie can you tell us about the group you are involved with called “Behind the Muses”?

Behind the muses is a group of 11 authors brought together by a love of writing, and a passion for mischief.  Apart from having fun and creating havoc on our yahoo group, we’re each writing a story about our muse to be compiled as three anthologies.  My muse is Terpsichore, the muse of dance.
