I’m extra lucky today I have two amazing people with me today and they have brought a whole load of Sazi with them “Lions and tigers and bears. Oh MY!”
Hello Ladies Can we talk about your new book Cold Moon Rising? Would you like to tell me about your hero he has starred in one of your previous books I believe?
Hi, everyone! Tony Giodone is the point of view hero of Cold Moon Rising. He’s also been the lead in our first book, Hunter’s Moon, and the sequel, Moon’s Web. Tony is the epitome of “anti-hero”. He’s a former Mafia hitman who was attacked during one of his hits and became a werewolf. But over the course of books 1 and 2, his ‘inner hero’ came through and he now works for the good guys.
Sue changes a lot during this story is it all growing up as she seems to think or is the magic helping develop her new more confident personality?
It’s a combination of both, really. As often happens in real life, changing environments to one that’s supportive, rather than one that’s abusive, helped a lot. Also, she’s been surrounded for a couple of years by very alpha personalities who work very hard to do the right thing. There’s no way that CAN’T rub off. Plus, the magic ritual that will allow her to survive her mating with a magical hero is likewise going to change her drastically. The only question is what effect that’s going to have on her relationship with Tony.
As Leader of the Snakes Ahmad is very old and very superior to a newly turned wolf how well does he cope with the idea of Tony viewing his most privet encounters?
Oh, he doesn’t like that. At all! Ahmad is very accustomed to keeping his own counsel. He does things for what might seem very rigid reasons, and he doesn’t really like anyone knowing the background behind his decisions.
As an ex-Mafia hit man Tony is used to killing how difficult has it been for him to start working the good guys and having to answer for his actions?
Actually, there’s not much new for him. Trust us, he most definitely had to answer for his actions previously too! His former boss and the world he lived in wasn’t exactly forgiving. LOL!
Ahmad is now mated and they work well together and with Tony and Sue are we going to see more of this intrepid foursome in the future?
Hopefully! We’d LOVE to write more about them. But right now, we don’t have a contract for any more Sazi books. Feel free to let us know that you’d like to see more by sending us an email. We’ll forward them on to our publisher. Grass roots campaigns have succeeded more than once!
If you could go to dinner with any of your characters who would it be and why?
Boy! That’s a tough question. We’ve created so many interested characters. I think we’d like to have a sit-down dinner party with a group, rather than just one person. Cathy would probably pick Tony, Ahmad, Asri, Yurgi and Cat Turner. Cie might pick Raven, Lucas, Ivan and Holly Sanchez and, if we can include people from other series, Kate Reilly (from the Thrall series) and Celia Graves (from our upcoming Blood Singer series). It would make for a really interesting dinner party. LOL!
How did the two of you meet? When did you decide to start writing together and how do you work together do you agree on everything lock horns at ever turn?
We actually met working in a law office in Denver, Colorado. Cie was the only writer at that time, and Cathy was the equivalent of a beta reader. But she (Cie) suggested I try my hand at writing, and it turned out I was a really good writer. So, Cie helped me develop my plots and the first book I put out sold. We decided right then that we made a better team than individual writers and have co-authored ever since. But do we lock horns. Oh my yes! On nearly every book. We’re both very strong personalities. But we have methods of working out our differences, so it all works out in the end.
If I gave you a time travel ticket which time period would you like to visit and what would you do when you got there?
Cathy’s a big fan of archaeology, so it would be a real struggle to pick only ONE time and place to visit. If the ticket came with the ability to understand the native languages, I think probably the height of the Mayan civilization. It was a fascinating world and there are so many questions that have yet to be answered. For Cie, probably an older version of Ireland. It’s part of her heritage, and she finds it really interesting.
If you were given the chance to make one of your books into a film which one would it be and who would you want to play the main characters?
Gosh, this is always such a tough question. For Cathy, probably Hunter’s Moon. The original version of Tony Giodone, named Eric, was inspired by Keanu Reeves. But Tony is sort of a mix between Keanu and Robert DeNiro in facial structure. For Cie, probably the first book of the Thrall Series, Touch of Evil. Gena Davis would be a great pick for the lead, Kate Reilly.
What types of books do you usually read? Who are some of your favourite authors?
Wow, there are so many! Both of us like a variety of books. Cie likes mysteries, science fiction, urban fantasy and fantasy, while Cathy likes thrillers, urban fantasy, paranormal romance, science fiction and mysteries. There really are too many authors to count, but a few would be Laurell K. Hamilton, Jim Butcher, Clive Cussler, Dan Brown, Robert B. Parker, Yasmine Galenorn, Rachel Caine, etc., etc.
What do you have planned for next year?
We’re actually REALLY excited about this next year. Serpent Moon, book 8 of the Sazi series, will hit the shelves in March, 2010. It features Holly Sanchez, the best friend of Cat Turner from Howling Moon and a new character, Eric Thompson from the Canada wolf pack. It also concludes the plot with Marduc (She) that has been a major world arc since book 2, so we’re really excited about that. We also have a brand new series starting in 2010! The Blood Singer will feature Celia Graves, who is half vampire and half SIREN. The first book, BLOOD SONG will hit the shelves in June. This will be the first book actually on the fantasy shelves (rather than the romance shelves) and will be under the name of Cat Adams. All of our future books will be under this new name, except for future books in the Sazi world (because it’s frustrating for readers when books change author names mid-series!)
