Dreams have been analyzed for thousands of years by those wishing to know exactly what goes on in the subconscious mind as we sleep. Most of us lack the tools to perform a proper analysis of our own dreams, yet many wish to understand the images and emotions the dream world can evoke. This book provides readers with the tools needed to hopefully comprehend a world that is totally confusing to many individuals.
An Introductory chapter explains how to use the rest of the book effectively. Also presented in this section is a six-step guide to interpreting dreams and an explanation of the eight dream categories and their characteristics. From Processing Dreams to Wish Fulfillment dreams, each category is defined in such a way as to assist the dreamer with classification before the actual dream symbols are analyzed. The importance of analyzing emotions evoked by the dream state is also discussed in this section.
Set up in traditional dictionary format, the meat of the book consists of almost 3,000 explanations of various symbols and what they most likely represent. This volume includes many interpretations that are relatively new to our society such as BlackBerry PDA’s, the World Wide Web, DVD’s and Hip-Hop Music. Cross references to check other definitions are provided with many of the entries. Writing dreams down immediately on waking, and then using the interpretations to analyze them, seems to be the ultimate way to use this comprehensive book.
I am a very vivid dreamer and at times I have often wondered upon waking exactly what it was that I had just experienced. I wanted to know what the dreams meant and why I would have a particular dream. This awesome book gives me the chance to find out. I found the definitions to be widely varied and easily understandable. Ms. Sullivan Walden has provided readers with an excellent tool that will assist many other readers in comprehending at least a small part of the mysterious world of dreams. Anyone looking for a way to understand even a small part of what happens to them during a time when the body is at rest should run out and purchase this sensational book as soon as possible.
