Although there are many different types of romances and love stories, I have to admit that stories about first love are my absolute favourite. This is probably why many of my stories follow this particular theme.
I think that nothing can compare to reading and writing stories about falling in love for the very first time. The excitement, hope and joy of that first experience is one that, for me, never grows old. Or maybe it is just a way of trying to relive my long gone youth?
When it comes to writing about first love I like to try to give my stories a twist so they aren’t just the usual boy meets boy (oh yes, did I mention my pairing of choice is two young men? No, well, now I did).
But, back to the point I was making: For my latest story, I decided to take the theme of first love to a whole new level by making one of the characters not only experience love for the first time, but any emotions at all.
As an alien, Zak is not used to having human feelings and during the course of the story I threw them all at him ““ I am so cruel to my characters. Never having had a human body, or the emotions that come with it, Zak arrived on Earth with no clue what was in store for him. *evil grin* Yes, I had a lot of fun with that part of the story.
Thankfully for Zak I am a sucker for a happy ending and made sure that the main emotion he got to experience for the very first time was love.
Zak’s journey of discovery as he works out what is happening to his body, both inside and out, is, at its core, one of first love, not only for him, but also for his human boyfriend, Sam.
Sam, unlike Zak is perfectly familiar with human emotions, but due to his own secret he has not had the chance to date and fall in love like his peers. This doesn’t stop him from falling for the strange new student in college.
The human with a secret and an alien with an even bigger one are certainly an odd combination, yet strangely perfect for each other. At least they would be if they could learn to trust their secrets with the other.
Still, they are young and falling in love for the first time, and they should come to expect a few bumps on the road to their happy ever after.
Zak, an alien from the planet Trimmeron, is a member of a race of beings who transform into other species during their years of puberty. It’s customary for the youngsters to be fostered to the worlds native to their new forms, to study and learn about the races who will play an important part in their lives.
When Zak turns into a human, it comes as a surprise to everyone, for only one other before him has ever done so. Nevertheless he is sent to Earth, a world he views as primitive and barbaric. He arrives with a chip on his shoulder and attitude to spare. He does not believe that anyone on Earth could have anything to teach him.
When Zak meets college student Sam he soon discovers he has a lot to learn, not only about humans, but also about himself.
Trapped on an unfamiliar world and in a strange body that seems to have a mind of its own, Zak has no idea what is happening to him””only that Sam seems to be the key to the strange afflictions he is suffering from.
But can an alien find love with a human being?
