Alden is no ladies’ man; he is much too shy for picking a woman up. His new sister-in-law decides she is the woman to find him a wife. He agrees to meet the woman but knows there is no chance until he shows up at the house he just bought to find a woman sitting on the side of the road, but it is not the one he was expecting.
Mercy is looking to make enough money through the summer to buy a ticket home. Her time abroad is not what she thought it would be, but then it turns out to be more than she ever expected. She takes the job unexpectedly vacated and finds a world with interesting people; especially the handsome new home owner, Alden.
Alden’s seemingly boring life is turned upside down by the cast of characters he never thought to meet and the “accidents” he begins to experience. Mercy becomes someone he never expected but will he figure out the mystery before someone, namely him, gets seriously hurt?
The world created by Ms. MacAlister is rare and entertaining. The story the reader expects is not quite the one the reader ends up with and the adventure makes it all the more interesting. There are enough twists and turns to keep the reader wondering what is going to be on the next page. I highly enjoyed the story telling of a very talented author. I recommend Daring in a Blue Dress because the escapades of Alden and Mercy make for an entertaining read.
