Stephanie Jule was born to be a rancher. Though she is only twenty-one she is flourishing as foreman of Clifton’s Pride Ranch.
Grant Clifton is the manager of a large resort. He was born on the family ranch, but is much happier living the playboy life and is very good at making money.
Grant wants to sell the family ranch but feels an obligation to the people who live and work there, especially the two members of the Jule family, who came to the ranch in the wake of a shared family tragedy. He goes to the ranch to break the news and finds that Steph is not the twelve year-old girl he remembers, but is now a beautiful and intriguing woman.
This is a formulaic but entertaining romance. Stephanie is a really great character–strong and determined. Grant is a little less likable at first, but he comes around in the end. Their love story is rocky but interesting and the setting is wonderful, but there are too many unexplained back stories, and the subplot involving the hired hand seemed a bit contrived.
