Super Sized Kids addresses a problem that has become an epidemic in American
society; obesity in children. This a difficult subject for families to deal with, but it is
necessary to do so if we want children to grow into healthy and happy adults.

The book contains a great deal of practical advice to make handling nutrition issues and
making effective activity choices much easier. The authors use a helpful, common
sense approach in the battle to overcome childhood obesity. The charts and graphs
look like useful tools that anyone can use. They are also available on the author’s web
site. In fact, the text frequently refers to the very comprehensive companion web site.

I found both the book and the site easy to read. They are organized in a manner that is
easy to understand and presents the information in common, ordinary fashion, without
talking down to readers. The logical, sequential arrangement of the information makes
any subject easy to find.

With the many different food choices, and the tendency of children and teens to sit for
long periods in front of televisions, computers, and video games, childhood obesity and
related health issues will continue to be a problem until we do something to stop this
trend. Dr. Larimore and Ms. Flynt have given parents, health professionals, and
educators a very useful book for use in improving the health of children. I recommend
this terrific book to those concerned about the health and well-being of today’s children.
