Rickie the Raccoon lives by himself. One night when he is out scavenging for food in an alley, Rickie finds himself scared and alone, and in a big mess.
When Carmen the cat, Rickie’s friend, sees the mess around Rickie, she knows what has happened, but now Rickie needs her help.
As Rickie starts to clean up the mess around him, Carmen shows him the difference of what goes where, and why. Plastic, paper, and cans and glass all have different bins for separating. Rickie does not understand why until Carmen explains it to him. Then Carmen helps her friend out with something to eat.
Fantastic. Carmen is great at showing Rickie the what and why of recycling, and what a mess there is if we do not recycle. Using these two animals is a great idea of getting this message across. Raccoons being nocturnal, and a cat being a forager itself. A learning experience not just for Rickie, but for us all.
