The history of Egypt has always been fascinating and intriguing to say the least. From the beginning of the Pharaohs, the temples, tombs and the people of Ancient Egypt, there is much to explore. With so much rich history, Egypt will always hold more treasures that are a learning in itself. One good interesting note is that the Black Land was Egypt, one Upper Egypt, one Lower Egypt, and the Delta region was all black land.
History tells us that when an Egyptian went hunting, he took the whole family along. When the children were small, they did not have to bother with clothing, some things were just not that necessary. Another facet in the Egyptian life was falling in love. Egyptians often admitted the possibility of falling in love at first sight. An example is Ramses II who fell in love with his bride the moment he saw her. When it came to marriage, one serious crime against marriage was infidelity. Another interesting fact was that women were equal to men in their chance of immortality, too.
There are many books full of Egyptian history that will enlighten and enhance the reader. Every day there is always something new a person can learn when they open a book and visit Egypt. Research is just a step away into a remarkable and grand moment where the history comes magically alive. Not many females are educated into the literature of the study of Egypt. Barbara Mertz just happens to be one of the few females who researches much in getting a whole world of knowledge so everyone can see the wonderful beauty that lies within the walls of Egypt.
I cannot express how much enjoyment I gained out of Red Land, Black Land. The book is extremely loaded in rich history. The pictures are so lovely, they almost look real. Barbara Mertz has outdone herself in this mesmerizing novel. One can tell she did a thorough research. I could feel the excitement, the love and the devotion, she put into all her search. As an Egyptologists, she does incredible work that leaves the reader in awe. I was left in deep thought in this engaging read. This treasured gem will indeed take the reader into an incredible journey, as if they just stepped off the plane into the grand city.
