Chapter one includes works focusing on the powerful feelings that one feels when first becoming involved in a relationship with another person. “Your Genre” is a particularly creative poem. Chapter two continues on to focus on the reality of a continuing relationship or marriage. Such things as not feeling appreciated, to spousal abuse, are covered.
Cries of an Angel is an insightful collection of poems. The reader can feel the powerful and soulful feelings that the poet has experienced. These poems are not happy or feel-good, but gut-wrenching and raw. Several contain themes that are felt by a variety of people, particularly women. Although the several grammatical errors and misspellings were distracting, Ms. Davis has a talent for writing and expressing herself creatively.
