She soon crosses paths with the new deputy in town, and at first she resists his affections, but as she learns more about him, she cannot help but wonder about her feelings for him.
Jason Reynolds is on assignment from President U.S. Grant to capture a loco ex-soldier accused of stealing Jefferson Davis’ treasury gold. Only the sheriff knows that is what he is doing in Omaha. He also finds himself falling for the feisty Arianna; but nothing can come of it right?
With people’s lives in danger, Jason and the sheriff must do all they can to keep everyone safe and hopefully get the crazed man they are after. So does that leave room in Jason and Arianna’s for love, or is it doomed when the truth of who Jason is comes out?
I am glad I read the first book in this series first so I was able to follow the story better. I actually enjoyed the second book better than the first one, although they are both good reads. Arianna and Jason seemed to easily connect and you couldn’t help but hope for the best for them. The rest of the cast of characters round out the story with their own presence and stories.
