QUESTION: Of your published titles to date, which heroine is your favorite and why?

The curious red-haired heroine in my series looks and sounds like me. Doesn’t every writer model their favorite heroine—or hero—after themselves? (Well, there may be a few minor variations: Jessica is prettier, educated to teach, and distrusting all men after a personal betrayal, she is determined to stay single as she nears her thirtieth birthday.) LOL
Each book in the series opens with heroine Jessica bewailing a crisis of discovery: “Damn!” Cutting herself in book one as she pries open the secret lockbox of her late grandmother, she finds a mysterious teacup with a foreign name on the bottom. The cup is weaponized for a slip in time, as Jessica trades places with an ancestor who lived in 1886. Jessica, like me, also happens to look like her infamous ancestor.
Shock follows shock as she discovers the ancestor is married to a handsome green-eyed half Irish, half Indian Wyoming rancher with a charming young daughter—who also has red hair. (Funny thing, my hubby has green eyes!) Both think she is Jessamine, the mother and wife they adore. Always up for an adventure, Jessica plays along with the charade, and begins to fall in love with the family and their simple way of life in a remote cabin. She introduces them to scented soap and her version of chocolate chip cookies—pre-invented, of course. They introduce her to the transformative power of love, shattering her rigid beliefs enough to weigh the truth against a future in the past.
Jessica, in book two, is back in contemporary times, living with her toddler in a new home she designed on the old pioneer site in Wyoming. “”Damn,”” when the pies she sets out to cool on the porch go missing, she fears she is being stalked. Fearless Jessica learns to handle a gun and manages to shoot a “bear” she thinks is threatening her son. The bear is a man in a bearskin poncho with the same green eyes of the only many she ever loved. Has he bridged time to find her? In a reverse time travel situation, clever Jessica turns sleuth after they marry, unwilling to lose the life she dreams about when she realizes he may not be the man she remembers. I love the self-deprecating way Jessica thinks, her sense of humor, emotional response and determination to sort through truth that is always stranger than fiction.
The Accidental Series is published by Wild Rose Press. So far, the first two, books have been recognized as Golden Quill Finalists. “The Accidental Wife” was also a P & E Top Ten for author and romance. “The Accidental Stranger” is a Rone Finalist. The third book, The Accidental Heiress is still a WIP set in Ireland with Jessica and her true love involved in a family mystery that includes a historical Irish scandal.
