CTR asked:
What is something you wish you’d known when you first started writing? (Craft or career).
Franny Armstrong said:
What I wish I’d known when I first started writing? I’d love to have learned how to market my books back then. Having that gem would have been great, and I still would be reaping the rewards of that knowledge, like I am now. Marketing is the gift that keeps on giving. I would love to have been on the top sellers list for the New York Times, or USA Today, or both back then.
One can never stop learning as you go. Building a career is so fulfilling, and I always look forward to meeting more of my readers. Being a best-selling author is humbling, yet so exhilarating at the same time. What more could a writer ask for than that?
Satisfaction for a job well done can go a long way in a writing career, giving the author a great deal of pride and joy. I miss that day when my first novel was published. The excitement and overwhelming happiness is something you can keep close to your heart forever. Though my husband and children have never read my books—afraid to see what really goes on in my mind—I know they take pride in my accomplishments.
Here’s to many more on the top of the list! I’ve taken great pride in being a writer, and it never fades. I hope to write many more novels in the future. Somehow the element of time slips by so quickly that I lose track of it. My readers are the ones who remind me that I need to keep on pushing forward. I learn something new every day. Thank you to all of you for making me so successful, not in the monetary sense, but in the sense of accomplishment.
I’d love to hear from my readers about what they want next in the characters and plots. I am truly humbled by that. Thank you for your undying support.
