Ellen is 39, works part time at a computer firm, is married, and the mother of two children.
Why Mommy Drinks is the computer app based on her life, or her perception of it.
Ellen is a suburban housewife and mother with a unique perception of the world around her. She gives off an “I don’t care” air, but inside she is full of insecurities, frustrations, and just a little bit of anger. She is exhausted by her life between family, children, a husband who does not help out, and her part time job. Usually she blows off steam with her friends and a bottle at the local pub. She has an idea for a computer app based on the life of an exhausted wife and mother and it changes her life.
I just loved this book. Ellen’s take on life is irreverent, profane, and absolutely hysterical. I found myself alternating between sympathy and laughter. In between the laughs, there is a wonderful story about a very relatable family, and I was unable to put it down until the very end. I read most of it on the beach and got some pretty funny looks when I laughed out loud at some of Ellen’s antics. At least five people asked me what I was reading and when they saw the cover, they took down the name of the book and the author to get it for themselves.
