Good morning. I will be your author today. I welcome you all to co-pilot, or if I get too out of control, to take over the reins. I think my bio does a pretty good job of saying who I am as a writer, and more information can be gleaned on my website, so for this introduction, I will tell you some things you may not know. I live in Sunnyside Queens, and in addition to writing novels I work freelance as a sign language interpreter. I work a shift today of 11-5 and I'm usually running around a building, so any posts are going to have to be through my iPhone. If for some reason I can not get through on my iPhone, I would have to find an internet cafe during lunch. This evening, after my shift, I am having drinks with my editor, something we do every few months, so I will probably post my last hurrah before the clock strikes midnight.
Fall is my favorite time of year, and even though it's been a bit rainy lately, I've been in a good mood. I am working on the second draft of my sixth novel, Things I Do for You, winding up promoting my fifth, The Pub Across the Pond, reading a new novel in order to give a quote to help promote it, (It's a wonderful first novel, filled with romance, I'll be sure she stops by here) and of course, doing the occasional guest blog.
I love dogs, walks on the beach, and coffee. I currently don't have a dog or walk on a beach very much, but I couldn't live without my morning coffee. Although I did run out of cream this morning. I never seem to see it coming. But I won't let that affect my day. Because Thursday 13 is supposed to be fun. In the spirit of fun, I will be doing a few give-aways today. My first give away will be a signed copy of The Pub Across the Pond. For those of you not familiar, it's about an American woman who wins a pub in Ireland. In order to research this book, I went to Ireland for a month and had the time of my life. The above picture shows a street performer in Galway. What it does not show, unfortunately, is me throwing knives at him. He plucked me from the crowd, and said I looked like a woman who knows how to throw a knife at a man. Is it that easy to spot a writer? I was actually a bit terrified since they seemed like real knives to me, and he was up on a unicycle. My first attempt at throwing the knives was a bust. He didn't even try to catch them, they just plunged to the ground. Guess I had some learning to do. Maybe it didn't help that my hands were shaking. The second time, to my great relief, he caught them. I've never thrown knives at a man since, and I kind of miss it.
In order to win my first give-away, please respond. What was the last trip you took? Did anything unique and surprising happen? (Doens't have to be knive throwing, but if it is I challenge you to a duel. We just have to find the guy. I have a few reccommendations if you don't….. Everyone who responds will have their name thrown in a hat (an Irish cap!) to win a signed copy of The Pub Across the Pond. The winner will be announced this evening along with how to contact me to square away sending off your prize…..

13 years agoIt's rainy here too but Fall is one of my favorite seasons. It's nice and cool but not quite cold yet. It's been awhile since I took a trip, but the last one was a short road trip this summer. We visited parks with lakes and took in the view. It was a refreshing change of scenery. I'm hoping to put in an overseas trip in a year or so.

13 years agoMy last trip was in September to New York City! Had a great time (always do)! Got to meet my boyfriend's family, eat at great restaurants, go rowing on the Hudson River, see a Broadway show, drive over to Hoboken to see Buddy the Cake Boss, and so much more. Mary, I love "your" city!!

13 years agoMy last trip was 3 months traveling around Ireland and a week in Sweden. Did you know there's a Tibetan Buddhist retreat in West Cork? I spent a week there. It was awesome! I loved Ireland and would totally go back.
