You just never know about New Mexico weather! A week ago there was snow on the mountains about 20 miles from where I live although about 5000 feet higher in elevation. Today there are some severe thunderstorms in the area. South of here in a remote area the weather bureau says it rained up to 4″ in a very short time and there will be flooding! Right here only a few drops so far but quite a lot of wind. Desert storms can generate several types of serious winds. Last year a bit later than this we had some roof damage in a derecho type –a ‘wall’ of wind caused by two storms converging–and I hope no more of that. That wind was clocked at 75-80 mph in some gusts!! I just wanted to warn that if I vanish before closing time, I may have had to close down or lost my connection. We get DSL from a tower on the mountains to the SE of here and wind can shake it up sometimes.
We have a bit less than two hours to go now on the official clock although as always, I know readers come by later. We do encourage that and know some are working late, feeding and getting the kiddos to bed, etc. That is why we always wait to do drawings until the next morning to give the late birds a chance too!
Anyway I want to call for a round of applause for our great authors today–I think I counted ten or eleven which is fantastic. I also want to say thanks so very much to Shadow for joining us today. I hope all of you–even the quiet ones and I know there are a lot of readers who visit but are shy and do not post comments–found some new authors and books to add to your TBR list and can find at least some of them in CTR’s ever-expanding bookstore. which like the good ole county fair gets bigger and better all the time.
Please do leave a comment or two though to have a chance at that quilt and the gift basket–I know there are at least three or four print books, a gift cert or two to either CTR or Amazon, and maybe a few more small goodies to enjoy. Why miss out? Commenting is easy!
I’ll be around unless I have a problem and approving comments until bedtime so hang out with us for awhile more and have fun! Don’t forget to mark August 3 on your calendars–that is the next Book Brew and we will be featuring Steam Punk with all its fun stuff. There is likely to be a surprise or two and some fab old and new authors to meet and discover.
