“Oh my, is this Thursday?”
“Yes, it is,” the calendar reminded me cruelly. “And you’re late with the Thursday Thirteen!”
Yep, that’s about the size of it. I didn’t intentionally neglect the Thursday Thirteen…it truly slipped my mind that Thursday was upon me until that lightbulb moment (was it the 30Rock promo, or everyone jumping for joy that there’s only 1 day left until the weekend? Perhaps we’ll never know!) brought the truth crashing home. So, in keeping with the events, here are thirteen excuses for being late:
1. You’re so obsessed with it being Russell Crowe’s birthday that the day of the week slipped by.
2. You celebrated your anniversary the night before and had enough wine to blot out your memory of the days of the week. (It was my anniversary, but this isn’t meant as a confession : )
3. Two and a Half Men comes on so many days of the week, you’re confused beyond belief.
4. Unlike Charlie Sheen, you’re not winning…you’re just absent-minded!
5. Did I mention that it’s Russell Crowe’s birthday? Sorry!
6. You’re always late…after all, you were supposed to be born on Halloween, and came several days late. Why start being on time now?
7. You were so busy watching previews of the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie that you were in a Johnny Depp-induced fog.
8. You accidentally stepped on your watch during aerobics class.
9. You lost yourself in a great new romance.
10. You thought your clock was eleven hours fast.
11. You mistakenly thought you were in an alternate reality that has a different system of time.
12. Facebook…are words necessary?
13. You’re in love…need I say more???
