January: 2011 new releases, especially debut authors and second half of year. (That’s today!!)
February: (Feb 6) Fairy tale romances””the kind we all sigh over; hearts and flowers and all the “trimmings’ for a lacy-lovely Valentine tale. They can be hot but must also be **very** romantic and maybe more traditional, whatever period they may be set in””today, yesterday or tomorrow! Beyond those criteria, anything goes! Twilight type paranormals, dashing Arab sheiks, braw Scots or gold-hearted cowboys, smitten executives and bold adventurers–just with an emphasis on wooing and winning in the most delightful ways imaginable!
March: (Mar 5) Sex in the City and love in the office themes, chick lit; modern ladies and gents finding love in the business world. Crushes on the boss? Competitors finding an irresistible attraction? Industrial espionage? Think The Devil Wears Prada, even Basic Instinct and wheeling and dealing to love! Romantic comedy good here but in an office/business or similar setting!
April: (Apr 2) Crime and punishment, cops, detectives and correctional officers–strong arms of the law! Include thrillers of all types and regular mystery/detective etc. without romantic elements in this group! Just hope the good guys win!!
May: (May 7) Classic historicals, esp. Medieval thru Tudor/Stuart era settings, whether factual historical, fantastic or a blend of both! Knights and ladies, kings and intrigue! Battles and stolen brides, Vikings and Scots or Irish, conquests and seductions, Crusades and adventure. Show us the swash and buckle and also the romance! Exotic settings welcome and unusual characters. A lady knight saves the prince? The clever daughter of a merchant wins over the rampaging rogue and saves her city?
June: (Jun 4) Sports, athletes and the games played, both for the crowd and behind the scenes! Any sport from pro to amateur and individual extreme sports here. Let’s play!! Baseball? Rodeo? Mountain climbing? Snowboarding? Let’s set the excitement and danger quota high and show the aphrodisiac impact it can have or the fierce competition to be the best! Romance optional but hopefully included.
