This is an interesting series about Rod Gallowglass, a warlock, and his family. This series has time travel, sorcery, castles, monsters, etc. that you would find in most fantasy novels, but it’s set on another planet and in a midieval time period. Some of the characters are magical others have powers like telepathy, teleportation, telekinesis, etc. and the main character’s best friend is a robot horse with artificial intelligence.
Warlock Rock was the first book I read by this author back in the early 90’s and I loved it. I found myself laughing at the references to the different rock and roll bands mentioned in this book. It kept me reading from beginning to end at a time in my life when I was hardly interested in reading at all. I also read the book after this one called Warlock and Son which was just as good as the previous book. I found out later that these books were the eleventh and twelth books in the series, so I set out to find the rest of his books and over the years I’ve found most of them. As I’ve shown the books don’t have to be read in order since Mr. Stasheff does a fantastic job at ending them. I think Mr. Stasheff really did an excellent job with this series. He has also written books about the Gallowglass children (The Warlock’s Heirs series). The Rogue Wizard series is all adout the eldest Gallowglass son Magnus. They take off for him where this series seemed to leave him.
Mr. Stasheff has also written other books over the years within the same genre. He doesn’t have a website that I have found, so if you would like to read more about him or the other books you can check out the information at this link. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christopher_Stasheff
