The Magic of the Wests is the story of the three West children, each who have dreams, wishes, and hopes that are unique as the kids themselves. From the young girl dreaming of her singing career, to the older boy who is finding his place, to the charming youngest who knows he is a big boy-mostly; all three are part of the big picture in the family’s magic.
The Magic of the Wests is a great story for both kids and their parents to read. I see myself and my children in every part of the book. While I enjoyed the descriptions, clever settings, and thought the dialogue was appropriate for each of the kids, it was the children’s interactions that sold me on the book. The kids handled the situations in a most entertainingly manner, and I was impressed how well Ms Massa wrote this aspect of the story. Their reactions were touching, realistic and above all interesting. Each child’s story was great and together made a wonderful story for my family with three kids. I did however go to the experts: the 12 year old said, “It was OK Mom”, but read it twice when he didn’t know I was looking. The 9 year old was shocked that all kids had wishes and dreams, not just she and her friends, and the 2 year old has brought it to me again and again-telling the other kids to go away, “It’s my book”. For those who enjoy child fantasy books, The Magic of the Wests will be well read by your family.
