Steampunk has always been one of my favorite genres, but I had never written an actual Steampunk novel, until Bontrix! Like most all of my books, the story was inspired by things that happened to me in real life. This is the first time that I have ever talked in detail about how my latest Steampunk novel came to be.
When I first began work on the novel I was living in a brick building on my college’s campus. The room was small and outdated and there was a horrible pounding noise that came from the walls almost all hours of the day and night. I would listen to the loud noise as I would try and go to sleep at night and imagine that something fantastical was happening within the walls. At one point I had convinced myself that there were dwarves in the wall and they were mining for a special mineral that can only be found within the walls of that building.
One thing led to another when my imagination took hold and eventually the story of a college student who finds himself faced with a life changing secret and the fate of two worlds resting in his hands came to be. I wrote bits and pieces of the book over the span of about 2-3 years, so it technically took the longest to write out of all of my books. The cover was designed by a fellow author friend of mine, Richard Denney, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. It has been my pleasure to bring this multi-dimension Steampunk novel to the world, and I hope you all enjoy it!
