Still Time to Win

To round out our adventure novel tour, below are thirteen points of trivia for Desperate Dreams.

6. The “oasis in the desert” is based on a site I came across in Big Bend National Park along the Rio Grande River.

7. The Rio Grande is the border between the U.S. and Mexico. The river is referred to as the Rio Grande and the American side of the border and the Rio Bravo on the Mexican side of the border.

8. River levels fluctuate drastically throughout the year. Sometimes the river is a formidable obstacle, but much of the time it’s easily waded.

9. Nyla’s mother is her greatest inspiration despite her lengthy incarceration in the Facility.

10. Nyla’s grandmother primarily raised her and she has secretly refused to abandon forbidden practices, unwittingly encouraging Nyla’s rebellious spirit.

11. Nyla gains her strength from her family and friends, especially Ethan, who has ignited nearly extinct emotions.
