I recently spent ten days in San Antonio getting a feel for the hero of my upcoming short story. I haven't titled the story yet, but I know my hero is from San Antonio and his mother is hispanic.
Sam Hollister is the officer in charge of a 4-man SEAL squad sent into Matamoros, Mexico to rescue a humanitarian aid worker and the daughter of a U.S. senator. Annoyed by the misappropriation of SEAL-power, Sam decides to teach the rescue target a lesson.
With drug lords running the streets, Madison Scott knows she should have left Matamoros with the other Americans, only she couldn't bring herself to abandon the local women who, without the shelter she provides, would get caught up in the sex trade. When four scruffy-looking men break in and grab her, Maddy fears her altruism has backfired. She's sure she's being forced into prostitution, and nothing that the four men do or say tells her otherwise. In fact, their leader seems determined to sample her now! (How can she possibly be attracted to him?) Imagine Maddy's shock, relief and outrage when she's delivered safely to a U.S. Navy ship and the man who so deliciously molested her turns out to be a Navy SEAL!
This short story will appear in SEAL OF MY DREAMS, an anthology of Navy SEALs stories available 11/11/2011 on Kindle (later in paperback). Keep a look out on my website for more information. All proceeds will go to the Veterans Medical Research Foundation.
