Tell us a little about CLAIMED BY THE CAPTAIN?
Claimed by the Captain is a romantic and erotic historical novella that’s recently been released by Ellora’s Cave. In the story, Captain Jason Kane, a ruthless privateer abducts Catherine Farrell, daughter of the swindler who destroyed his family. Intending to extract the debt owed him from his tempting prisoner, he plans a cold-blooded conquest, but his captive’s passion and tenderness spark a deep longing in his soul. As Jason’s sensual conquest awakens Catherine to the pleasure of his touch, he also lays claim to her heart, and she must convince him that love is far more satisfying than sweet revenge.
What qualities were a must when creating your hero, Jason Kane?
Jason Kane is a man who lost everything in his youth, including his family and his fortune. Driven and keenly intelligent, Captain Kain is cunning and a bit ruthless, especially in his quest for vengeance against the man who destroyed everyone he loved. However, he’s not as hard-hearted as he liked to think. He’s capable of seductive tenderness and enduring love, and his courage and loyalty are key facets of his nature. He’s a good man who’s been wronged, but he’s got the guts to move past that vendetta.
When reading a book I often imagine the characters in my head as thought I am watching a movie play out. If you could cast Jason and Cathy for a movie, who would play them on screen?
I could see Joe Manganiella (Alcide on True Blood) as Captain Jason Kane, while Amanda Seyfried from Mamma Mia! would fit the role of Cathy to the proverbial T.
What is it about writing Historical Romance that appeals to you?
I love writing Historical Romance because I love reading Historical Romance. Love is a potent emotion that empowers you. There’s nothing like the wonderful feeling of being in love, but the paths to enduring love is seldom straight and smooth. Often, lovers have to overcome many conflicts, both external and internal, and make sacrifices to find their love and make it last. This is the basis of a love story.
What are you currently working on?
I’m currently plotting a historical novella and writing a Victorian Steampunk.
If you could ask readers any one question, what would it be?
Which era should be the setting for my next Claimed historical? I’m considering the Civil War South or the Scottish Highlands. Your thoughts, readers?
