Recently, I had become intrigued by the concept of the Law of Attraction. I began by reading The Secret by Rhonda Byrne and then went on to read The Laws of Success by Napoleon Hill and most currently, Creative Visualization by Shakti Gawain. There were others in between, but these three stand out the most. To sum up the Law of Attraction: what you think about, is attracted back to you. So, if we think positive thoughts, we are sending out positive energy and positive things come to us. If we think negative thoughts, then we are sending out negative energy and negative events come to us.
Since understanding the Law of Attraction, I have found this, essentially, to be true. When I am down and negative, I notice my day going the opposite of what I'd like it to be. However, when I am happy and feeling positive and thinking positively, my day suprises me with happy, little treats. This line of thinking had also gotten me through my husband's battle with cancer. Instead letting this knock us for a loop, we thought positive thoughts and believed that only good would come to us. Within three months, my husband was cancer-free. Maybe his fate would have gone this way had I thought negative thoughts also, but why take the chance?
In my book, Unplugged (A Portrait of a Rock Star), Tagg Holland is a negative thinker. So much so that he contemplates taking his own life. But when he meets Mara, his personal trainer affected by similar life-altering events, he notices her view on life is the total opposite of his. Though suffering from her own turmoil, she does not allow negativity to take over her life. When Tagg realizes that there is another way to overcome tragedy, his positive thinking takes him to levels he never dreamed.
Is there anyone out there who also puts positive thinking and feeling into action? I'd love to hear your story.
J.P.
