The first romance novels I ever read, given to me by my mother as a matter a fact, were all historicals. I still reached for a good Regency whenever I just want to get away from it all and live in a world where the rules are clear and it's so scandalous to break a taboo. My love for historical novels and romance is deep and heartfelt, and I love hearing from readers with the same loves. I often mix my genres shamelessly, so I may write a paranormal set in the recent past, like Mask of Ice set in the 1950s, or I'll add in a touch of magic to a Regency like Match Made by Moonlight.
Here are some samples of my historicals:
Match Made by Moonlight – All alone, Marianna Sanderton runs a household, cares for her sick mother, avoids her matchmaking aunt and manages to play nursemaid to an entire village. In the daylight she is Anna, known by all to be caring, responsible and hard-working. But in the night, she is known only as Maria to the mysterious man who shares her dreams.
Brandon Kelsey is a doctor, a gentleman and a soldier at war far from home. His dreams of a captivating woman named Maria fill him with something he's lacked for years—a sense of hope.
Marianna made a wish to a brilliant moon and now they both share in the strange magic that results. The night of each full moon, they meet in their dreams and delve deeper into each other than anyone else has ever been. For both of them, the journey leaves them longing to find their other half.

Scandalous Profession – Charlotte Mallory is a single mother blessed with a very vivid imagination. Her imagination has allowed her to provide a comfortable existence for her family, despite all the barriers for a widow to succeed in Regency London. That same imagination just might get her into trouble when it runs wild over a handsome redheaded gentleman she spies in the park.
When Richard Wilcox proves able to far surpass her most sensual dreams, will she lose everything once he discovers her secret?

It is the year 682, but to the Maya it is the ninth baktun, twelfth katun, tenth tun. Born to a renegade splinter of the noble line of Mutal, Ix Wac Chanil, Lady Six Sky, is unique among Maya princesses. More than an ornament to a great king, she will rule as well as reign. Sent to the ruined kingdom of Saal to restore its royal blood, Chanil has one condition to traveling into the embattled Maya heartland to hold the peace. She gets to choose her own mate. And she chooses well.
Ah Maxam, Tiliw T’ul, is a great artist and respected scribe. She’s wanted him since she was a girl and he was a man in exile. No other man makes her body throb with need. But can she ever believe he wants her as more than a queen? Together, can the intensity of their passion rebuild a kingdom torn apart by generations of war?

Helena Gracechurch is far too occupied by thoroughly unfeminine concerns to fall in love. She’s got a business to run, a brother to protect, and a sinister cousin to avoid marrying. But her lusty thoughts about the man she’s just hired to captain her flagship are quite vexing and she has to keep her mind focused if she expects her world to remain afloat.
The new Earl of Belforth, Raymond Talbury, has arrived from Spain to find his family destitute and his position as a bachelor precarious. He needs money, not romance. But when he meets his new employer, all he can think about is getting the fiery redhead in his bed, or anywhere else he can have her. There really is no way he can refuse her offer of a mutually satisfying undertaking.
They both harbor secrets, but their feelings for each other are plain. Will circumstances and a menacing relative drive them irrevocably apart, or will their wanton venture succeed beyond their wildest dreams?

13 years agoThe first romance novel I read that hooked me into the genre was a historical romance so I can do love historical stories. Ever since I have discovered other sub-genres of romane and really enjoy them. My favourite historical period is World War II and the mid 1800s. I would love to read Match Made by Moonlight. Some magic in the Regency period sounds great.

13 years agoI used to read Victorian mysteries. I haven't read too many historicals since then so I guess my favorite would be the Victorian era.

13 years agoI don't have a favorite historical period. I'll read a historical romance based on my interest in the story. I enjoyed all of the blurbs and excerpts for these books – they would make lovely additions to my library!

13 years agoVery intriguing story line for "Match Made by Moonlight"! Sounds delightfully dreamy : )
Risky and risque are some of the more enjoyable elements of Regency Romance. A sharper air of mischief, perhaps due to a spoiled social set seeking to relieve boredom, is part of the fun. Mystery, murder, and mayhem all add to the mix. Residents of the Regency Realm are often naughty, sometimes bawdy, and the membrs of the ton may be more than a touch haughty, but they are always a great pleasurable escape for romance lovers!!!
