Okay, now that you've put up with my ramblings, the only polite thing for me to do is offer up some goodies. I've promised right out of the gate, that someone would win an e-book today. Any of my e-books–name your e-format and if it comes that way, it's yours.
In order to take part in the drawing, you'll read Sovereign of the Dragon and/or Beauclerc Island on Coffee Time Romance. When you're done, come back here and tell me the name of anyone in either story who served coffee or tea. That's all J
I'm going to post an excerpt to Beauclerc Island (which will be updated again, later today) and an excerpt to Sovereign of the Dragon. These are and will be long stories and you won't need to pay for them. Okay, you'll pay in waiting and spending time reading them. Still, if you like the stories, you'll always have something to look forward to, won't you?
Here's some background on Beauclerc Island:
The people of Beauclerc Island are Mainers from the first English and French settlers. They keep themselves to themselves. They mind their own business, and each other's, of course, but that's as it should be.
Though few residents can honestly claim that they've met the Beauclerc of Beauclerc Island, they are intensely proud and protective of him. What many of them don't know is that he returns the favor. They have provided him sustenance for much of his long life and he has made certain that his islanders have always had the best of everything.
It's been a very long time since any new members of the Beauclerc family have visited the island. Greyson Maddox, the Sheriff of Beauclerc Island has met the man who lives in Beauclerc Castle, so, he knows more about Roald Beauclerc than his neighbors.
Beauclerc Island covers twelve square miles and was home to two hundred human souls and a small population of farm animals and wildlife–and one of whatever Mr. Beauclerc was. Would the island be able to sustain more like him?
Here's a little excerpt from Beauclerc Island:
"He won't like being interviewed before the courts, either, my lady." He turned back to Kieran. "Do you have someplace private that you can go?"
"I 'ave," Kieran assured the man, wrapping an arm around Kaia who leaned her head on his shoulder.
Years before on his own mother's deathbed, she had given him a sheaf of papers. "Her Grace gave me those before she died, so's I could keep you and little Kaia safe if his nibs went off his nut on any of us. There's 'ouses belongs to 'er on a place called Beauclerc Island."

The bell jangled as the door to Maggie's Café opened. The thick smell of cooked oysters and cream permeated the air. With every step he took toward the large table in the center of the room, the chatter intensified. Maggie had decided a long time ago to keep everyone in one place unless they really wanted to sit off to the side for peace and quiet.
Greyson Maddox, sheriff of Beauclerc Island, didn’t especially want peace and quiet just now. He was more interested in learning what everyone was so stirred up about.
"Afternoon, Sheriff. Coffee?"
"Ah-yuh," he agreed, waiting, going through the ritual.
In no time, Maggie had his coffee poured and steaming gently in front of him. As he took his first sip, she imparted her news to him.
"I heard from away, this mornin'," she began. He nodded his understanding. "Seems some of the family will be joining us for a spell. The compound needs cleanin'."
"That so?" Grey inquired, taking another sip of Maggie's excellent coffee.
"Ah-yuh," she responded, crossing her arms over her chest as she leaned against the table. "Just two, at the first. Fellah talked so funny, I couldn't hardly understand 'im. Wanted to make sure it wasn't busy or crowded. Make sure it was quiet around here. Sounded a bit queer to me."
"Could be," Grey agreed. "Guess I'd better pass this along."
"Guess you'd better," Maggie agreed. In unison, the two turned their heads toward the side window, away from the surf.
There, perched atop the highest promontory of the twelve-square-mile island, sat a heavy piece of architecture that could only be called a castle. The inhabitant of that castle, Grey knew, would be only too interested to learn that some of his kin would be staying nearby in the family homes. His greatest worry was that the newcomers might…dine…on the same delicacies as their relative.
