A mystery? A thriller? What do you prefer to read? I don’t write about blood and guts. I don’t even like to read about those. I get nightmares if I accidentally see an ad on TV for a horror movie.
Give me a good romantic suspense with just enough mystery in the story to keep me hooked. My light romantic suspense Lying Eyes will soon be released by Desert Breeze Publishing, Inc, and is just such a story.
Inspired by the hotel where I attended a writer’s conference, Lying Eyes tells the story of two workshop presenters who butt heads over the right way to solve the mystery of swapped luggage.
As soon as Allison Marble checks in to the hotel she discovers someone switched her cosmetic bag for a bag stuffed with hundred-dollar bills. Bad luck? Or big trouble?
The successful mystery writer and gutsy crime reporter asks Detective Carlo Demetri for help, but refuses to heed his advice.
Carlo is convinced he knows what’s best for Allison, but the strong-willed author has her own agenda. She came to LA to attend the writer’s conference and insists on doing so as if nothing is amiss. The detective wants to lock Allison in her room to guarantee her safety, but his captain sides with Allison, forcing Carlo to sit through conference workshops about how to write love scenes and Alpha heroes.
While spending twenty-four hours a day at her side, his attraction builds. Carlo grows even more determined to keep Allison safe when the drug runner responsible for switching the bags makes brazen attempts to get into her room.
On the last morning of the conference Allison gets her wish. Carlo is forced to use her as a decoy to draw the drug runner out in the open so he can capture the perp.
Does he…?
If you’ve ever attended a conference Lying Eyes will bring back fond memories.
Lying Eyes will be available in digital form and in print on February 21.
