Paranormal Romance
Rating: 4 Cups
Anna believed for hundreds of years that she was a human orphan named Bell. However, it turned out that she was the daughter of a witch who believing her daughter had been killed by the Romanov alpha had cursed the entire Romanov clan and all within their castle. It was a horrible existence that Bell experienced right along with the Romanovs including Soren who was her constant companion. When the horrific truth was revealed, Anna returned to her mother, the very witch who created the curse, in order to learn more of her birthright and to take her rightful place.
Soren Romanov wants only to bring his brother Lev who has turned feral back into the family fold. Though his heart grieves for the loss of Bell, the human girl he grew up loving, he feels she is gone and that this Anna is someone he does not want to know.
However, sometimes fate has a different take on human lives and when Anna begins to feel the call of the Emerald Sword and realizes it has named Soren as her mate, she returns to the forest looking for Soren, even knowing that she may also find Lev, who she fears could attack her. She does find both Soren and Lev, and unfortunately it is the one time that Soren has been able to get close enough to Lev that he feels he may have a chance of bringing him home. But with Anna there and Lev bristling because of her connection to the Ether and her witch powers, she instead accidentally destroys Soren’s chance to reach Lev. Soren is less than enthused with Anna showing up and makes his displeasure, as well as his rejection of her and who she has become known in no uncertain terms, especially when she brings up going to find the Emerald Sword and why she wants to. Anna’s heart hurts with Soren’s rejection, but she is determined to find and destroy the Emerald Sword and hopefully, release both herself and Soren from its enchantment. Will she and Soren destroy the sword? Will Soren be able to reach Lev? And will the magic of the sword and their true feelings for each other perhaps be stronger than either of them realize?
I really enjoyed Legendary Wolf by Barbara J. Hancock! I’ve always loved fairy tales, so getting to read this story which is based on Russian fairy tales was awesome. The author does a great job of world building with this one, and I loved how she built the story and the suspense within the story line. The love scenes are sensual and erotic and I enjoyed reading about these two discovering each other again now that the curse was lifted. I did wish I had read the first book before this one Legendary Shifter, but this book does have the ability to stand on its own. I plan on reading the first one soon! If you love fairy tales, and love shifters, then you do not want to miss Legendary Wolf! I can easily recommend it!
