Hi everyone. My name is A.K. Morgen (or Ayden) and I write young and new adult paranormal romance with a mythical twist. It's such a joy to be here with all of you today to celebrate the release of my debut novel, Fade (The Ragnarok Prophesies: Book One) from Curiosity Quills Press.
I'm a Southern girl at heart, and so the south finds a home in much of my writing. Most of my stories are set in the south, or feature a southern character. Naturally, Fade is no different. After the death of her mother, Arionna Jacobs finds herself in my neck of the woods: small town Arkansas. But things are not at all what she expected in the heart of Arkansas.
Dense woods stretch for miles between rural towns here, often broken only by farmland and small trickles of water that go nowhere fast. In the spring, the woods are a riot of greens and browns, of deer, rabbit, and of squirrels chasing one another from branch to branch. Life is slow, sweet, and full of down-home goodness and that world famous Southern charm. For Arionna though, life in rural Arkansas is a wee bit more complicated than driving several towns over to find the nearest hospital.
She's got a whole host of problems hanging like storm clouds overhead, and none of them are simple.
First there's Dace Matthews, the mysterious and hunky teaching assistant at her new college who can speak to her in her mind. He has the annoying habit of avoiding any question she asks him one minute, and then taking her breath away the next.
Then there's the pack of gray wolves lurking in the woods that connect rural community to community like a giant jigsaw puzzle. When one of those wolves tries to eat Arionna, Dace comes racing to her rescue, only to send her world into a tailspin. There's more to him than meets the eye, and she's beginning to realize that she's not who she always believed she was either.
If that wasn't enough to contend with, her friends are being picked off by an evil that haunts her dreams every time she closes her eyes. She has no clue what that evil is or what it means, but she and Dace stand at the heart of a mystery that promises to change their lives forever. Unfortunately, neither of them are in the least prepared for that discovery or the frightening things that come barrelling into their lives with it! They're both a little bit broken, a little bit stubborn, and very much afraid.
Who can blame them?
An ancient Norse prophesy of destruction is playing out around them, and the more they learn about their destiny, the more complicated their lives become. They're being targeted by monsters neither knew existed and they aren't strong enough to fight them or their inexplicable and intense connection to another. They both want things the other can't give, and neither is willing to back down or walk away. Romance is messy at the best of times, but it's a whole lot messier when personal demons, mythic monsters, and the fate of the world keep getting in the way.
Yep. It's the end of the world as Ari and Dace know it, and things are about to get real ugly!
Not a pleasant situation, I'd say!
If it were me, I'd be hiding under the bed, sobbing into my cookies. I'm a bit of a coward like that. I prefer scary when it's fake and far, far away. 🙂 What about you? You've just learned that myth is reality and the fate of the world is in your hands. What do you do?!
You can pick up a copy of Fade on Amazon (Kindle or paperback) now. And if you do, remember that my publisher, Curiosity Quills Press, and I will be donating 10% of sales for the first six months to the Ronald McDonald House Charities and 10% to the March of Dimes. These are two amazing non-profits that have touched my family in profound ways, and I am honored for the opportunity to give back to them through the release of Fade.
I'll see you a bit later for excerpts, giveaways, and more!

12 years agoWell, let's see. If the myth is real, I'd read up on the myths, find out that the gods are in fact mortal, and decide it's time to get a bigger gun. A .22 isn't going to cut it. 🙂
