My debut novel, Summerland, was released through Noble Romance on August 8th, 2011.
Originally written in 2000, the story has evolved from a dark comedy into a light romantic romp.
Blurb:
Rhiann Taylor thought she lost everything that mattered to her and she had to dig deep to find the strength to go on.
After two years of mourning, Rhiann emerged with a new outlook on life and a new career ahead of her. But even launching a business has its share of unpredictable occurrences. Especially when you add a smitten rock star, a self absorbed international playboy, an assistant who reads minds better than a psychic and a dead boyfriend who won’t leave her alone.
When family secrets come out of the closet, friendships are tested beyond everyone’s comfort zone. Rhiann will need to find the brazenness she once possessed, embrace the anger she has suppressed, and meet a vulnerability she has never known, to face the scariest prospect of all, falling in love again.
The original concept came while standing in line at the grocery store, scanning the tabloid headlines. I wondered why some stars are targeted, and others aren’t. What is the criteria to be a paparazzi magnet? Then Rhiann started talking to me. All stories start with the voices in my head, er, I mean with characters telling me their story.
The story emerged with the help of Rhiann’s support system, the couple who raised her- Uncle Eddie and his irritatingly endearing life partner, “Aunt” Genie.
Keeley, Brett and Camp, Rhiann’s best friends who support her, but don’t let her get away with much.
And of course the three men vying for her attention and affection.
Reed, her childhood sweetheart, he might have died but is still very much a presence in her life.
Julian, who needs to decide if it is Rhiann or her celebrity that is most appealing.
And Jimmy, who will have to recognize whether he is dealing with a fantasy from when he was a teenager or an adult passion where Rhiann is concerned.
