First let me thank Coffee Time Romance for allowing me to blog. It’s wonderful to be here!
I’m Tina Gabrielle, and I write rich Regency historical romances for Kensington Books. As an attorney, I have always wanted to write about two of my passions: romance and the fascinating aspects of legal history. I was fortunate to have an agent and editor who allowed me to write my Regency Barrister Series about four sexy barristers and the women who wreak havoc in their chambers and steal their hearts.
Who doesn’t like a sexy hero? Jack Harding is the hero in the first book of my new series, IN THE BARRISTER’S CHAMBERS. I really like Jack and enjoyed writing about him. Jack is a barrister so I did love the legal research that went into the book.
In the early 1800’s, law schools didn’t exist in England. Rather, a student would attempt to gain entrance into one of the four Inns of Court, find a pupil master, and learn the law. My hero Jack finds a willing pupil master at Lincoln’s Inn. His teacher’s daughter is a funny-looking girl, our heroine Evelyn Darlington, who fancies herself in love with Jack and follows him around like a lost puppy. We’ve all had those adolescent crushes, haven’t we?
Years pass, and Jack is now the top criminal barrister in London. His career is of the utmost importance to him, and although he enjoys the ladies, he has no desire to marry. Jack is a mixture of successful trial attorneys I’ve had the pleasure to work with combined with plenty of fantasy and romance…and yes, a bit of Gerard Butler.
Evelyn has grown into a lovely, mature woman who has a passion for the law. She believes she has found the perfect husband in Randolph, one of her father’s students. But things go terribly awry when Randolph is accused of murdering a Drury Lane actress, and Evelyn finds herself on the hunt for the best barrister to aid him.
When Evelyn shows up in Jack’s chambers, he is stunned to learn the beautiful woman standing before him is little Evie, the professor’s daughter. At first Jack is reluctant to take on Randolph’s case. Jack’s a smooth talking barrister, a jury master, who never mixes business with pleasure. But Evelyn is persistent, and Jack eventually takes on the case.
Our reluctant hero soon has his hands full trying to handle a murder case and battle his desire for Evelyn. As they travel throughout London investigating the murder, Jack grows to admire Evelyn’s intelligence and tenacity, along with her beauty. Eventually he realizes he wants Evelyn’s heart, not just her body. And for the first time in Jack’s life, he has to convince a woman that he’s the right man for her.
So tell me: What type of hero do you like? The alpha male turns sensitive lover? The compassionate understanding man? Do you prefer a titled hero, a duke or earl perhaps? Or a Highland chieftain or a medieval knight?

13 years agoI enjoy all types of heroes, as long as they have a passion for the heroine and learn to treat her well. I love the idea that your series is set among lawyers. It's a fresh twist on the Regency genre and I look forward to reading it!

13 years ago AUTHORHi Diana! Thanks for your comment! Yes, I do believe the hero has to come to respect and cherish the heroine. I also love a hero that's confident enough in his own masculinity not to be intimidated by an independent thinking or savvy heroine. It makes for a great read! Tina

It's refreshing to read about women that are not intimidated by men. I especially love reading Regency period with their savy politeness. Kudos to Tina Gabrielle for hitting the nail on the head. 13 years agoOooh, which type of alpha male? Hard to choose! Powerful, rugged, smart, sexy…but with a sixth sense about his woman. And we can't forget a good sense of humor.
You are making me want to ditch the day job and curl up with a book, Tina! And, guess what, your "Barrister's Chambers" is waiting right on my nightstand! : )

13 years agoI like hero's that know when to admit they've made a mistake and take corrective action to fix it just like I'm sure Jack is going to do with Evelyn:) I do love those "alpha male turns sensitive lover" types too!
I just love Regency historical romances and I'm sure THE BARRISTER’S CHAMBERS will be a great read… got it on my wishlist:)

13 years agoHow about a Highland Chieftan who is alpha, compassionate and sensitive. yum. I love that Jack and Evelyn's positions seem to reverse, first she has the crush and then maybe in a way he ends up with the crush on her. thanks for the contest. lisagk(at)yahoo(dot)com
