I’m with you, Judi

There IS nothing like a book in your hands.  I love sitting at the beach with a book on my lap, and I love taking one to the bathtub while soaking away.  I can’t imagine sitting on the …toilet…with a “reader” in my hands.  What next?  Electric toilet paper?  EEK!  But I think we are headed for something similar if more authors don’t dig in their heels to stop it.  Look at VCR tapes…they’re almost obsolete now and it’s sad, really. I don’t care about quality of a movie – I care about the story.  It’s the same in a book for me.  I don’t care if I can hold ten books in one reader.  What’s the fun in that?  And you certainly can’t get an autograph on one.  So what do ebook authors do when there is a mass signing?  I don’t know the answer to that one, but perhaps you do.  I don’t know much about this line of work at all, so I am probably green – but the old saying goes “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks” and I still like cameras with film in them.

So you didn’t keep any of the old magazines?  I suppose I can understand that.  When you’re young you don’t think of hanging on to those things.  You think you’ll have many years of the same to come.  I know I barely have anything that said I existed before the year 2000.  My kids will have fun telling stories to their children when I don’t have proof.  Hey – that may be a good thing.  I can lie and make up interesting stories…….

If you could go back to that girl who wrote the articles and the sad poetry – what would you tell her?  Would you have any sage advice to give her, or would you just pat her on the head and tell her to keep on the same path?  Oh, and I’m still loving the excerpts.  From the immortal words of the cast of Grease…….tell me more tell me more……….
