Your books always center on a dire situation that’s simultaneously humorous. Do you start your writing with these situations or do the comic accidents develop along the way?
It varies. In VIKING IN LOVE, the situation came first”¦a murder, from which all the other activities revolved. In THE BEWITCHED VIKING, the king’s you-know-what took a left turn (based on a true event, by the way”¦not involving a king, but one of my husband’s golf buddies). In A TALE OF TWO VIKINGS, twin Viking males get separated during a battle and each thinks the other died until the end of the book.
OTOH, sometimes it’s the character that comes first, like Thorfinn in VIKING UNCHAINED, who was tormented by the loss of his baby. Or Tee-John LeDeux in WILD JINX, a wild Cajun, for sure. And, of course, sometimes it is the title that comes first, like THE VERY VIRILE VIKING.
How did you come up with the premise for Viking in Love? What made you think, aha! Five Viking princesses against one [[[Lord of Larkspur”¦Correction here”¦It should be Lord Havenshire, assuming you meant the man they killed]]]?
The Dixie Chicks video “Goodbye Earl” inspired the opening of this book. In the video the three girls kill the abusive husband of one of them and dump him in a lake. In my book, five Viking princesses kill the abusive husband of one of them”¦an earl, of course”¦and dump him somewhere I won’t reveal here, but it’s funny.
What inspired the title?
Actually, I preferred my original title TEN NIGHTS WITH A KNIGHT, but Avon chose VIKING IN LOVE, also a good title. I defer to their more savvy marketing talents.

15 years agoHmmm…the crooked appendage is based on fact? Wow. and ouch!
You mentioned earlier the king really did rape a nun and was only given a year or 2 without his crown.
Then later this fact about the (ahem, appendage).
Do you try to find quirky historical facts and even facts from people you know to put into your novels?

15 years ago“Ten Nights With a Knight”? I like that one. I would have both that book on the title alone. 🙂

15 years agoVikings have been far too neglected in romance novels, and I can’t wait to read Viking in Love.
Keep up the good work!
