“He wrapped his arms tighter around her as though this were all that existed in the world. Just the two of them, the mountain, the clean winter air. The taste of her tongue on his lips.”
Hello! My name is Rebecca Brooks and I’m so excited to tell you about my newest release, MAKE ME STAY, book 1 in the Men of Gold Mountain series! Although I live in New York City, I’m an outdoorsy girl at heart. I love mountains, lakes, swimming, hiking, downhill skiing, and exploring new places all over the world. So it should be no surprise that I like my heroes rugged, my heroines strong, and my steamy romances with plenty of adventure.
In the summer of 2014, my husband and I traveled to the Pacific Northwest to visit my best friend in Seattle and venture up to the north Cascades. We’d been hiking the summer before in the Olympic Peninsula and were eager to return and explore a different area. I grew up skiing and had been toying with the idea of writing a ski romance in which the hero and heroine meet on the slopes. Things heat up to more than PG-13 in unexpected places in my books, and having the characters get hot and heavy outside in the middle of winter was a challenge I wanted to take on! (Mission: accomplished. Twice. Plus the bedroom, the living room, the kitchen table”¦.)
Sorry, where was I?
Oh yeah, mountains.
As soon as I saw how beautiful the Cascades are, I knew I wanted to set my ski romance there and that I had to write not one book but four, each set in a different season. The result? MAKE ME STAY and the gorgeous men of Gold Mountain. MAKE ME STAY is an enemies-to-lovers story with a hidden identity twist, as CEO Samantha Kane comes to Gold Mountain to convince Olympic skier Austin Reede to sell his land”¦and finds herself getting closer to him than she ever imagined.
I loved writing about Sam and Austin’s adventures as they hit the slopes. They race down double black diamond trails, get cozy on a snow mobile, and discover just how much their love of the outdoors draws them together””even when it seems the rest of the world is pulling them apart. I got to feel the cold mountain air and the rush of the wind without ever leaving my cozy home office filled with books in the Bronx.
Writing about adventurous characters is the perfect way for me to get out into the mountains even when I’m at the computer. And what could be sexier than a man who looks amazing in a skin-tight racing suit AND makes the world’s best French toast? (The secret is the cinnamon, FYI.) I hope you enjoy being transported to Gold Mountain with Austin and Sam. Even if you’ve never skied before and hate the cold, I promise these two will heat things up and keep you warm all winter long!
***What about you? Do you love heroes who are athletes? How about rugged mountain men? Would you go bombing down the trail, or would you rather be in the lodge with a steaming hot cocoa? Comment and let me know what you think about adventure in romance!***
She’s his…for now.
Samantha Kane is about to solidify her father’s legacy by developing sleepy Gold Mountain into the most profitable ski resort in the country. There’s one man standing in her way though. One very sexy, rugged man. When she shows up to convince Austin Reede to sell, she has no intention of hiding her identity. But with a body like his, she’ll take a few risks to get closer.
Austin was the fastest skier on the U.S. Olympic team, until he shattered his knee. Gold Mountain became his refuge””and now Kane Enterprises is threatening that home. When he meets Sam, he has no idea she’s the one to blame, he just knows the attraction between them is one he hasn’t felt in years. A scorching hot one-night stand is just what he needs. Little does he guess that it will change everything”¦

Rebecca Brooks lives in New York City in an apartment filled with books. She received a PhD in English but decided it was more fun to write books than write about them.
She has backpacked alone through India and Brazil, traveled by cargo boat down the Amazon River, climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro, explored ice caves in Peru, trekked to the source of the Ganges, and sunbathed in Burma, but she always likes coming home to a cold beer and her hot husband in the Bronx.
Her books are about independent women who leave their old lives behind in order to try something new””and find the passion, excitement, and purpose they didn’t even know they’d been missing.
