Good morning friends and readers. As always it is a pleasure to be here on Book Brew. I have to admit that visiting with readers and other authors is one of my fave things! I haven't been able to go to the big conferences like RWA and Rt lately so this is next best. I hope for a lot of comments today that I can respond to–and of course pick a winner from! I will be giving away at least one download of You Were Alwys On My Mind, the tale I am featuring today –or an alternative if you have already read that one.
The idea of reunion stories was one I could happily jump in on. I see a lot of life as one big Celtic knot where our paths twist and turn, weave back in spirals and loops and cross over and under. I could spend hours talking about coincidences that I feel really weren't and such but that would get dull fast, huh? But think about it a little–bet you will find some of them in your life too!
Still, what most of you are here for is to add to that TBR list and maybe meet some new authors or some new stuff from old faves. (I would love to be one of your old faves but will settle for whatever I can get!!) Most of you know I write some pretty hot stuff so it is a small challenge to get an excerpt with sizzle but not quite across that line in R/X rated territory. This is not an age-restricted site and I sure do not want to get the great CTR folks into trouble by being too explicit.
Maybe time for a little background on You Were Always On My Mind. A while back us Amber Allure authors did a couple of PAX groups (these are five tales with a common theme sold as a discounted packete) with song titles as a take off point. I always liked this song, many covered it but I guess maybe Willie Nelson's version is my favorite. The story departs in every way from the song but the idea of it just seemed to fit. Two guys who were unlikely friends in high school and whose paths cross again later…. yes, it is a m/m story if that matters. In an obscure way it was a tribute to my late brother who although not gay was an attorney and was snatched from a developing career too soon, passing at age 46 from an aneurism. And I really like to weave various ethnic groups and races into my work –just as reality is in the Southwest where most of my stories are set, so my Native American hero here came very naturally. I enjoy the new Native/Pop crossover music some of our younger tribal folks are creating these days and patterned Peter after some of them. So that's the story behind the story. An excerpt coming shortly.
