Hi! I’m Gianna Bruno, a paranormal erotica author (who occasionally comes back to the real world). I’m thrilled to have been invited to spend Halloween 2011 hosting the blog here at Coffee Time Romance.I’m not sure where the time has gone. It seems like just last week that I was sunning my buns on Cape Cod, doing yoga on the beach, and working hard on my latest stories.
Well I’m still working hard on my stories, but if the weather this past weekend is any indication, it’s going to be a long, cold winter””perfect for curling up with a book, or cuddling in front of a fireplace.
But today is Halloween, and I thought it would be fun to trade some spooky stories. I fell in love with the theme of witches and ghosts back when I was about ten, trick or treating all by myself. The moon was full, bright orange, and the iconic image of a witch on a broomstick amidst a bank of dark clouds drifted across it as I made my way back home, my bag full of treats.
I recall stopping and staring, open mouthed, as she flew by and disappeared into the stars. I wasn’t scared, and none of my paranormal experiences since have ever been frightening. On the contrary, most have been a deep sense of the presence, connection with, or influence of beloved friends and family members who were recently deceased coming back to comfort and assure me that everything was fine.
This past summer, on a ghost tour of Provincetown, Massachusetts, our guide suggested we snap a series of photos while in one of P-Towns several cemeteries””and one that had a long history of paranormal activity. I did, and a ghostly orb appeared in one image, not the others, indicating it was a specter not a trick of light. About the same time, on a cool (free) I-phone app called Paranormal States, there was a spike in the electromagnetic field, which dissipated soon after.
There was no sense of discontent, though many of the ghosts in that cemetery have frightened people in the past, and the tour went on. Perhaps the spirits know when visitors are open to their presence and are soothed by it.
The picture is on my Facebook page, so take a look at the two cemetery pictures. You will have to enlarge the image to appreciate the orb.
I also have some thoughts about what inspires a paranormal author on my blog, as well as some excerpts from Hot Chocolate Kiss, where the witches aren’t the kindly sort, and The Journey, where the magick takes many different forms””some of them not very pretty.
Does anyone else have stories to share? I’d love to hear them and will check in while at work from time to time.
I’ll also be doing a giveaway of one of my gift packages: an electronic copy of The Journey and Hot Chocolate Kiss with a personalized note. You’ll have to read the excerpts to answer the question, which I’ll post later, but they’re really easy.
Trick or Treat,
Gianna

13 years ago AUTHORI just realized that my time (EST) is pretty different than many of your's. Well, we're getting ready for bed here in a very balmy NYC, especially considering the wintry weather we had over the weekend. Trick or treating was delightful, and I (don't tell my kids) just ate a Butterfinger, Mounds, Kit Kat, and Charleston Chew. Now I feel sick.
Anyway, I wanted to post my giveaway contest question so anyone who happens by can check out the excerpts on my blog. Answer the one for the ebook you'd like to receive.
From The Journey: In what town does Milena live?
From Hot Chocolate Kiss: What backcountry ski destination does Keela mention in her conversation with the lift attendant?
C'mon, how about some spooky stories?
I'll be checking in later, tomorrow and the rest of the week.

Hi Gianna. The only spooky stories are when I worked in a hospital. Always got stuff in the oldest parts. I have heard my name. Thought it was supervisor and answered~no one there. Well maybe there was??? And I would hear bangs, knocking, and once while I was cleaning a toliet in the men's bathroom(in the stall-not the urnials)the toliet in the next stall flushed and I was the only one in there. This was in the basement near the old morgue. I would always feel like someone or something was watching me. Used to really creep me out cause I worked PM shift all by myself. LOL. Thanks for the giveaway. Hope you had a great Halloween.

13 years ago AUTHORI heard an expert named Charles Dunbar speak just last week about Japanese ghosts and there is one that does live in the pipes. I wish I could have written all the names of them down and can't remember–darn. I'll try and get in touch with him to find out.
Anyway, he claimed that JK Rowling based her character Moaning Myrtle on this ghost. It makes sense that it would be close to the morgue, though. Restless spirits rarely settle down.
The two paranormal investigators I've chattedn with claim ghosts can be riled when disturbed, even if the person disturbing them has nothing to do with their situation. In the P-town graveyard that I photographed the orb, it is reported that a solitary police officer on patrol was chased by a spirit and felt he was in danger. Then his car wouldn't start so he had to call for help.
I felt no sense of disquiet when I was there, but then again, it was with a rather large contingent of ghost tourists.
Anyway, Sue B. You got the answer for Hot Chocolate Kiss. I will contact you to find out what you want in your personalized note.
Anybody else? The prize for The Journey question is still open…..

13 years agoThank you so much. I don't know if I could go through a graveyard at night. Although I would really love to go on a ghost tour sometime. That is very interesting about JK Rowling. Would be neat if it's true; wouldn't it? I forgot once close to midnight(the end of my shift) I felt very cold on my left arm. Hairs were standing up. Only that arm. It was weird and scared me. And another place at assisted living on graveyard shift around 3am something went right threw me in the small laundry room. It was the weirdest feeling. I kept working but; almost peed my pants. And the minute my MIL passed at Hospice(I was by her side) I swear I felt her hug me. It was a warmth that comforted me. This has been a wonderful post. I hope more come and read your post.

13 years ago AUTHORMy contact with deceased family members has been more subtle. I have vivid dreams where they're comforting me or advising me. My car was stolen the night I got the call and by the time I got a ride, he had passed. A few days after his funeral I was driving home playing a cassette tape for my kids. It jammed on a song and that song played over and over. Even after I took out the tape, rewound it.
I knew it was him because of the lyrics: "Goodbye my friend, it's time to be moving along. Good luck and be strong. And keep on singing a song."
That was so much his personality. There have been others, but that was the most overt.
