Like most of you, I have a TBR list a mile long. So, I probably shouldn’t be asking for more book recommendations. Then again, there’s really nothing like a good seasonal read to put you in the mood for what December brings. Here are some I enjoy.
Since I didn’t really read much romance before I found m/m books, I didn’t know most of the subgenres either. I never sought out historicals, for instance, before I read m/m. I still read contemporary romances most of the time, but two of my very favorites are m/m holiday historicals. Jamie Fessenden’s The Christmas Wager is not only a wonderful friends-to-lovers romance, but a beautifully detailed Victorian English Christmas tale. KA Mitchell’s work always seems so modern to me, so I was surprised at how authentic An Improper Holiday felt. If you want to go back to the present day, Madison Parker’s Sock It To Me, Santa! is an all-time classic YA m/m romance. Tara Lain’s Mistletowed has appealing humorous and paranormal elements, and with m/f, m/m, and m/m/f plotlines there’s something for everyone! Nicole Dennis’ 7 Days of Christmas is very sweet, with two darling guys (including a bookstore owner! Dream boyfriend, am I right?) and a truly heartwarming premise. (I’m sure I’ve forgotten some, but I’ll pipe up with more in the comments if they occur to me!)
I’m racking my brain to think of Hanukkah romances…so far, the only one I’ve read is Cardeno C’s charming Eight Days. I know there must be more. Of course, I’d love to try a Kwanzaa- or Diwali-themed romance…so, recommend away!
