Have you ever noticed; there is no specific definition of what makes a novel a romance? You will find elements of romance when looking for non-romance sub -genres. I have even read self-help books with an element of relationships in them. For writers this is good news. It provides us with a whole world of possibilities to tell our stories. For readers this is even better; it provides countless wonders for the heart and mind. Look up your favorite subgenre in the romance section and I guarantee you will find: western, historical, 19 Th century, paranormal, dystopian, mystery, suspense and classics. My favorites range from Louis L’Amour to Mary Higgins Clark. I enjoy both the out of the world stylings of Anne McCaffrey to the paranormal worlds of Ann Rice. The possibilities with romance are countless, but often we cringe away from a story because it has too little or too much romantic content. If there’ is a lack in your particular style of romance; don’t give up. Don’t even limit yourself to one form of romance. Some of the most beautiful stories of love and passion are hidden in plain sight with unique and unexpected stories.
In the upcoming debut of my novel “Killing Casanova” released July 23, I take you into the hearts and minds of two people who fall in love from an unique perspective. This is a story of love with all the heart pounding thrills that come with that emotion, but seen through a different set of eyes.
Jake is a darkly handsome cowboy Casanova, with a reputation with the women of his ranch community. Cassie is the newcomer who cannot find any plausible reasons to see Jake as anything except a snake with blue eyes. As Jake sets his sights on conquering Cassie’s ignorance of his good looks and charm, he and Cassie discover danger, murderous friends and the man, behind Casanova’s mask.
