I’ve had a request to speak about dating…. and whether you’re 12, 20, 30, 40, etc, dating is never easy, fun, or worth it. At least not usually that first date. Unless, of course, it’s all about the sex. If you’re out there looking for someone (or something, take your pick) to make you feel better, or to prove something, then you don’t have to worry about the feelings behind it all.
I have children, and tried to raise them to the best of my abilities. I taught the boy to treat women with respect, and the girl to pick someone who would respect her. It’s more difficult now, I think, in a day and age where young girls are walking around with barely any clothes on – yet demanding respect – and boys are there egging them on. I’ve been to the mall recently and I have to wonder if people (girls in particular) look in the mirror before leaving home! There are some not so skinny girls with rolls hanging out of the bottom of their shirts and over the top of their too tight pants. Breasts ( or lack thereof) are peeking out of too tight tops, and skirts are barely covering their twats. Sorry, can’t think of another word.
But how are we supposed to take them seriously? Look, don’t get me wrong, I know we should pick our battles, and let them ‘be’ who they want to be. But I read articles about girls giving blow jobs in the bathrooms for $5 and all I can think about is TEENAGE BOYS ARE NOT CLEAN BOYS! Gross!! You couldn’t pay me $1,000,000 to go down there!
Anyway, once we get older perhaps we see things differently. I still hope my children will teach their kids that it’s okay to be different. That you don’t have to dress like a slut just because the other girls are doing it. Or that they have to treat women poorly because their friends think it’s funny.
I feel sorry for (or am in awe of, I should say) anyone trying to date this day and age. When it’s all about ‘show’. I miss the days of courting, holding hands, kissing in the moonlight. *sigh*. Wait a minute. I’m going to find my husband now. Have a great week, all! Summer is almost over.

18 years agoEEEEW! There is nothing attractive or comfortable about them. Didn’t people used to make fun of people with their underwear up their butts? I also don’t get the attraction of having it show above the pant waistline, either women’s thongs or men’s boxers. It seems like the rebuttal to plumber’s cracks and neither are anything I want to see.
