You’d think that writing is fueled by creativity. You’d be wrong. When I wrote The Hunting Mates, mug cakes were pretty much what got me through it (okay, there was a little bit of liquor involved too, but I digress.) Let me share the recipe with you, because I’m sure it’s even good for people who don’t write hot werewolves falling in love with cool vampires.
- Mash up one very ripe banana in your mug of choice (mine has polka dots, but you do you.)
- Add about a teaspoon of baking powder, a teaspoon of ground flax seeds, some nutmeg, cinnamon, or cocoa powder (the choice of spices will depend on the couple you are writing/reading, so I had to use cinnamon and cocoa of course.)
- Add about three to five tablespoons buckwheat flour (because it’s a very hearty flour, and that’s just the kind of thing that fuels a writer.)
- Add oat milk and combine until you have a nice pancake batter consistency (since this is vegan, you can taste it and see if you need to add some sort of sweetener. And you can make a joke about licking batter off your fingers of course.)
- Add a bit of frozen fruit, cherries or blueberries are good (I go with cherries where I can.)
- Microwave until cooked and enjoy (I usually did before I wrote the sex scenes, but for readers, try during.)
And this is how you feed yourself while writing. I’d also like for you to get acquainted with the result of my mug cake consumption, so let me introduce you to The Hunting Mates. It’s the third book in my Dusk & Dawn series, but this one can be read as a standalone (I don’t know why you would want to miss the first two though.) Go check it out, and remember to leave a review!
