Merry Christmas, everyone! I’m excited to be part of the sixth annual Santa Watch! My favorite Christmas is not just one particular year, but rather a compilation of “moments,” those snapshots you take in your mind when something warms your heart.
For me, the holidays are all about spending time with family and friends. I come from a large family–I’m the youngest of six. When all of us get together with our spouses and children, cousins, and friends, it is chaotic. And noisy. Very noisy. We tend to talk over the top of each other, and newcomers often ask how anybody hears anything. But we all seem to have that special radar that allows us to hear the entire conversation. Or should I say, conversations. LOL.
Christmas means making divinity and peanut brittle with my mom. It means taking turns opening presents so we can make it last longer (and torture our children). When I was younger, it meant finishing our chores, including milking the cows and doing the dishes after supper, before we could open presents. My grandmother used to sew pretty flannel nightgowns for me every Christmas. I couldn’t wait to open her package. I loved to help my dad pick out a present for my mom at the jewelry store I worked at through high school and college and cherish the grin he used to get when he found the right gift.
I love the candlelight service on Christmas Eve with my boys, the clever little gifts they made in art class at school, and making Christmas cookies with them. I love those moments when you look around and realize your heart is full and you sigh with happiness. Those moments are magic.
And those types of moments are the ones I try to bring to readers in my books. The kind that tug at your heart and make you sad when you get to the end of the story and maybe, just maybe, you put the book on your keeper shelf so you can read it again.
Last month, I released RESCUING THE EARL, Book 3 in The Seven Curses of London. This series is set in Victorian times and shares stories of men and women who attempt to battle the ills of London, and the love they find along the way that truly gives them something worth fighting for.
RESCUING THE EARL:
A tormented earl
A gentle widow
Both in need of rescue
After several suspicious accidents nearly kill her young son, Grace Stannus, a widowed viscountess, and her son, Matthew, flee their home in the dark of night, their identities concealed. Her predicament goes from bad to worse when she’s left ill and penniless alongside a deserted road in the pouring rain, not realizing the danger she faces is just beginning.
Rather than celebrating his betrothal, Tristan Hawke, the Earl of Adair, seeks refuge at his country estate, hoping to convince himself he hasn’t made a mistake by proposing marriage for all the wrong reasons. His world is upended when his coach strikes a woman. Fearing the worst, Tristan takes Grace and Matthew to his home.
As his lovely and mysterious guest recovers, Tristan is charmed by how kind Grace is–the exact type of person he avoids for fear his temper will crush her. But his efforts to maintain his distance are thwarted by his houseguests as they force him to consider that a gentle spirit might be the perfect antidote to his darkness.
Grace refuses Tristan’s efforts to aid her, certain she must stand on her own, especially since the handsome earl is engaged. But her determination isn’t enough to keep her son safe.
As passions ignite, Grace and Tristan must determine if they can rescue each other from their past demons before fate forces them apart. Available on Amazon.
Wishing you lots of those moments now and throughout the upcoming year! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
