There was no way I could one up the BIO that Candice has posted on her page so I just had to share. It shows what an outstanding personality she has:
“Mom! Can’t you work in here???” bellows Candice Gilmer’s six-year old.
“No,” Candice replies, knowing that Tomas The Train will kill the ability to write anything even remotely sexy.
Not that she sits far away ““ a mere twenty feet away from the television and her daughter. Still, that twenty feet is evidently more than the child can handle. The two-month-old, however, has no problem with Mom in the other room, and is happily sucking on his fist.
“But Mom”¦ I’m hungry”¦”
The two-month-old’s enjoyment of his hand evidently ends because he lets out a blood-curdling scream, demanding food.
And such is the daily life of one Candice Gilmer, Mommy and Writer. She does have a day job, well, an evening job, as a hairdresser, and has done that for over thirteen years. For most of her adult life, that was her creative outlet, though over time, it just wasn’t enough.
And writing was always in the back of her mind.
Even as a kid, she was telling stories, memorizing “Cinderella,” the voices Mommy used and all, and could recite it on demand at two.
Telling stories comes naturally to Candice, a genetic trait of the family.
If you don’t believe her, go to one of her family barbecues ““ everyone tells stories, from her grandfather, her uncles, her brother, to her mom. There’s no short, one liners from her family. Every story is a production, slightly exaggerated, and usually hysterical.
And if you’re not careful, you might get roped in and not be able to get out.
Broken Shine left me speechless. It left me with a jumble of emotions and is truly the best white knight story I have ever read. Candice Gilmer provides the perfect mix of good and bad in one man that leaves the reader with no words. By the time I read the last sentence I had truly felt every emotion that one could experience; from pride, envy, love, despair, to joy. I was truly sad to see the story end and immediately flipped back to the first page to read it all again because nothing could be so good the second time around. Broken Shine and Candice Gilmer will leave you astounded at the talent and creativity used to tell a story as old as time and will leave you wanting to read it over and over.
