Fiona Blount is having a different kind of adventure. She is not only meeting her father, multimillionaire William Brown, but she is attending ESP boot camp. This is a camp where she will be able to interact with other people who have ESP as well as learn how to control her own powers.
William Brown was unaware of his daughter until she contacted him when she was fourteen. He and his friend, Douglas Freiman, are the founders of the boot camp. His family is a little odd, but he hopes they will accept Fiona.
All of Fiona’s friends in London believe she is attending science camp in New York. Having ESP is a blessing in many ways, but Fiona is a bit relieved at the idea of discussing her gift with other people who will understand her gift. The family, on the other hand, is a bit cold and distant, not to mention weird. Grandpa is working on inventions, Grandma is worried about her son’s financial safety, and Cousin Naomi has issues dealing with her parents’ divorce. With her friends visiting Rome, Fiona is feeling a little left out.
The paranormal aspect of this book is fun and lighthearted. I liked the way Ms. Radford brought children of different types and nationalities together with one gift. Every child in the boot camp is special in some way, which a reader can relate to. I believe Fiona’s wicked sense of humor helped make this story work. She is able to keep a positive attitude in situations where most adults would not. A definite must read for any teen!
